Scene from 'A Christmas Story' yesterday and modern society

There is a scene where Ralphie is imagining the bad guys attacking his family (hiding under the table). Ralphie shows up with his Red Ryder, shoots out the window at the bad guys, hits them, all while pretending to chew tobacco.
Movie was made in 1983. What type of controversy would erupt today if the above scene was going to be included in a present day Christmas movie?

You left out a bigger faux pas...a couple of the guys Ralphie smokes are black plus the bad guy is "Black Bart"!!! Racists!
Actually there are a few scenes in the movie I wonder how they would be treated if the movie was made today...

The movie is on a Christmas marathon nowadays.
On 2 channels. Turner network channels.
Step away trom Fox News and maybe you'd notice.

It's a great movie set in the 1950s. Still a seasonal favorite and Christmas day staple.
What were you bitching about again?

Was I talking to you? No, but since you insisted on trying to look big by taking a shot at me, maybe I need to point out that if you would stop using all your mental faculties in trying to come off as clever you would have understood my post properly. In particular when coupled with the OP which I referenced, I thought it was abundantly clear that I was speaking of how the movie would be filmed nowadays versus whether or not they show it in its original format or not.
By the way I am flipping between ESPN and A&E right now and was watching TBS yesterday while the marathon ran since you are assuming things...

Democrat friend of mine re-posted something on Facebook today saying that people who enjoy the movie are racist. Something about it being full of white privilege.
Not kidding.
Not kidding.

I don't think he was calling you out at all; you just happened to be the post before his. The structure of this response system makes this very common. Your response is a little over-emotional if you apply this basic logic.

Well, I have to respectfully disagree with you on the calling out part. I am sure that since I made an observation about something relating to race he was trying to throw in the Fox News correlation to my post. I think the insinuation was pretty evident...then he solidified things by not following what I said when I mentioned how the movie would deal with it these days in creating it versus whether it is shown as it was made nowadays...pretty clear to me!

So much white privilege in that movie.
Stable family, working father, kids in school. White people have it made.

Dude, no way the Chinese Diner scene makes it into that movie if it was made today. LOL

Also the bullying from the Scott Vargas character. Then Ralphie pummeling him.
Dream sequence with blind Ralphie. Because he is blind he is a beggar in a "lowly state". Handicap discrimination.
Scwartz mother beating him over the phone. Ralphie throws him under the bus for use of the word f$)k. And his mom just starts whipping.
The Old Man is compared to an Arab Trader.

It's a period piece comedy. Made for today wouldn't have the same jokes.

They made a sequel a couple of years ago. Ralphie was 16 and getting his first car.
Didn't see it but the reviews said it makes you want to shoot your eye out.

Who gives a shite? Do you just sit around thinking of non-existent things to be outraged at when you run out of real things?
