What's your take on prescription drug laws?

This would include drugs ranging from antibiotics to painkillers and everything in-between. I can see the legitimacy of wanting to ensure that people don't harm themselves by taking things that could be dangerous (and that they might not understand the risks), but I also think it can be over the top when trying to get a refill or having a prescription filled while traveling. Just curious.

I've never had to take prescription drugs in my life but the girl I am currently dating is a cancer survivor and she has to endure a significant drug regimen. The one thing I've noticed is the wide ranging difference in policy determined by the various pharmacies she uses when getting her prescriptions refilled.

U Roxi or Norco?

ETA: Do you travel for more than a month at a time?

My wife is going through Chemo now, and is also dealing with some major chest pains that the doc actually gave her morphine for. She went 4 days with nothing but ibuprofen because of the new rules that won't allow for an rx to be called in. luckily she had to see the doc before chemo yesterday so they could finally get her something to help.

I understand that there are a lot of people that abuse this shite, but they'll still find it. The people who legitimately need help are, as usual, the ones suffering the most due to the changes. I'm obviously quite a bit biased though, given the circumstances.

Neither. There's no way I'd take opiates unless I absolutely had to. I do take Flonase, though. It's kind of ridiculous how difficult it can be to get that.

ETA: I typically max out at a couple of weeks when traveling.

Is that even a scheduled drug? Seems like your doctor could call that in pretty easily.

Fact of the day regarding pharmeuticals:

America is the only nation where "DTC" (Direct-to-Consumer) advertising is allowed when it comes to drugs.

All other nations ban the ads and believe it is best for doctors to know about the drugs they are prescribing. Advertisers, magazines, and decision makers scoff at that notion.

I have had cancer twice in the last 4 years myself. The most recent tumor destroyed the nerves in my right leg. Tumor was the size of a 20 oz bottle and wrapped around my lower spine. I have chronic pain in the leg and unfortunately, I have to take a 20 mg Oxy every day just to be able to do functional stuff. I am prescribed 2 a day but will only allow myself the one to get through until evening. It is inconvenient having to drive 15 miles to my oncologists office for the script once a month but I agree with why it is required. Had to go this morning, in fact. Not a big deal unless you are invalid and can't drive yourself. I would hate to have to have someone go out of their way to pick me up and drive there. I am sure that people with that situation have a different perspective than myself.

I am not worried about people harming themselves with drugs. That is their business.

I am worried about Antibiotics though. They can hurt everyone by not being taken appropriately.

I understand why they do it for sure. I've had a lot of friends get hooked on prescription pain killers when they didn't need them. Not much we can do about it now though, so complaining isn't going to do any good

Good luck with your fight, I hope you kick it's arse.

I am against all laws that limit what adults may purchase and put in their bodies.

Period.

antibiotics challenge my perception of laws, because people using those stupidly impact the world and humankind.

docs don't use them right many times, I sure as hell don't trust joe-retard to use them properly.

everything else I don't really care, I'm actually right pissed off hydrocodone products are CII now.

I'm totally ok with drug advertisement.
I think patients should be informed and make informed choices.

I was always a fan of Quaaludes.

I prefer Mexicos lax laws to be honest.

Sweet. I'm out of state right now and can't get my doc's office to refill it over state lines. I have no idea why. Been using it for quite some time. Pretty ridiculous.
