Its not just black ancestry but all kinds. I'm mostly talking about south Louisiana but you just see a lower percentage of people who are white but just don't look plain old western European white. Its not really like that other places in the south.

What Lsu480 said. Dark dark hair, dark skin. Again, not just white/black mixing but there's certainly different variations of mixing in Louisiana you don't/didn't get elsewhere and it creates a distinct look.

My ex from La definitely fits that description, especially the nose part. She HAD to have had some black in her family tree.
