My favorite part of the Sears catalog is that it didn't matter what year catalog you ordered from, if it was in-stock, you got it -- and at the price listed.

My grannie used to have the 1981-1986 catalogs and we'd just study them and memorize pages and start making Christmas lists in the summer.

I remember putting stuff from the Empire Strikes Back on my Christmas list in 1986 and sure enough come Christmas morning, Dagobah, Troop Transporter, Hoth Playset...etc...

Awesome.

Also, Back in 1986, I asked for the Electric Football set wanting the Bears/Patriots combo.
Sears sent a Cowboys/Steelers set.
Can't imagine how long that had been in the warehouse.

Such great memories.

To go from that, to ladies in underwear, and back to calculator watches and Gobots was almost too much.

Sears and, more recently, JC Penney. I, too, would circle everything I wanted....which ended up being about half of the shite in the book.

Add up all the hours I spent looking thru those things in the late 70s/early 80s and you'll probably get weeks worth of time.

"Bandits! 9:00 o'clock!"

"That was close."

The Sears catalog was awesome. Our town was too small for a real Sears but we had a catalog store where you could go in and order stuff and then pick it up when it arrived.

When we got a little older, we used to circle stuff like Ted Williams .22 rifles in the sporting goods section too.

Sears wishbook was the biggest enjoyment. My cousins and I spent hours deciding which toys or NFL clothing we wanted.

Yeah, my parents would get the Sears catalog and we'd circle what we wanted. I don't remember the last year they did that though. I just have been 6 or 7.

When did they stop printing those?
