There are a couple of all inclusives on the island. Haven't booked anything there because we stay in houses that are rented out for a whole season.

Definitely book the shuttle from the airport to the ferry. Don't take a cab.

I'd make sure they finally got rid of all of the velociraptors before setting that trip up.

You don't like him?

Try again. As in BVI/USVI, Sint Maartin, Barbados, Costa Rica, etc...

I have been 3 times and I love that place. Stay at Ixchtel because it's on North beach and has best location to everything. You are at best beach and everything is within walking distance. They have suites that are on top floor and have whirlpools on the roof, not expensive and they take really good care of you.

Seems like a good place to get away for a day or two. But not for a honeymoon.

I took a boat trip here year's ago. It's nice but a little rustic for a honeymoon imho.

You should check out Cuba since Obama just opened it up. Think how romantic it could be cruising down the blvd in a vintage 57 chevy and smoking cuban cigars.

Do it.

Not sure why people are saying it wouldn't be good for honeymoon if you have never been there. Trust me, its amazing. The people are so nice, its very safe, and they water is the best! I have done everything there from sail fishing to scuba diving. I have gone with just the wife and loved it so much we went back and took our kids.

It was his choice, not mine. I'm just helping out.

I would have done the Maldives.

Reading comprehension on the OT is terrible.

"Help me plan a honeymoon here" and get responses telling you to go somewhere else.

Make sure he plans to take a helicopter from the airport to the resort.

I used to work down there. Villa Vera is where I stayed. It's a nice marina with condos. It's not in the center of town, which is a small island, but it used to be very nice. There are a couple of cool small places to stay on the northeast side of the island (more centrally located and on the beach side) but I can't remember the names. It's been a long time.

Fun fact: All of the ferries that they will take from cancoon, were built in Pierre Part, LA.

Also, frick cancoon. That place sucks balls.

Now I'm seeing other posts of isla not being a good destination. Isla is pretty damn cool. Mexico, right now, in general, not so much. Take that for what it's worth.

I was there last week and we absolutely loved it. We stayed at Ixchel and the hotel was great. Rent a golf cart and explore. There were lots of small bars throughout, we skipped most of the touristy places and mixed with the locals. It's a small island and you can cover everything to do there pretty quickly. 3 nights max is all you need.

I've been there. It's a very nice island. Just don't see spending a week there.
