AJ is not developing into anything other than a mediocre QB talent. I have a full season that has shown everyone that he's at his ceiling, despite what a player who clearly has to guard his wording has told the press.

So a message board poster states that watching a full season of football he can determine the ceiling of a soph player whose is a first year starter. Wow, those talent evaluation skills must mean you are a scout, college coach, or at least an analyst. for you.

It is hard to say, oh this guy is getting better.

His best game was Wisconsins, and then is has sorta been downhill from there, with a plateau in the bad to mediocre range.

He had 107 yards passing against A&M, the fewest they have given up all year. In fact they consistently give up 200+ to almost everyone.

What's telling is Diarse can play the QB position better than Jennings.

The guy started 12 games! Its not like we are still talking about spring practice.
Some of you act like you have to be some sort of certified expert to make an observation on QB play...the numbers speak for themselves.

1 quote out of that entire article, which is very long , is not "telling". Here are some other quotes...

quote:

"The passing game progress was a little bit harder than I thought it was going to be," said Dural, who has been the top receiver this season. "After spring and fall practice, I was not really expecting the passing game to do as well as planned. It takes a lot of time to get everybody refocused on the same page."
quote:

There are always going to be ups and downs in your first season," said Diarse, who enters the Music City Bowl against Notre Dame with 13 receptions for 199 yards and two touchdowns. "We had a lot of first-time players, but there were still a lot of expectations. "I anticipated the struggles in the passing game. That's likely to happen with so many young guys. We wanted to get some experience this year. We'll be a solid group next year."
quote:

"Sometimes the quarterbacks and the receivers have not been clicking," Dural said. "For instance, one player may not know the entire play and how you are supposed a run a certain route against a defense. The quarterback may see one thing and the receiver may see another thing. A lot of it is maturity."

Then Diarse was asked about Jennings and he responded with the quote in the OP... What was he supposed to say? Was he supposed to bash Jennings and the passing game? Say that he sucks? Hell no... That's his teammate and his QB. He did the nature thing and stayed positive. There is nothing telling about that quote, especial when you actually read the entire article and get the context of it.

I personally knew two LSU players in 2009 that said the exact same thing to me about Jordan Jefferson.

When was the last time Diarse saw a pass in his zip code from AJ? And I realize I shouldn't use zip and pass and AJ in the same sentence

The telling fact is what he does on saturdays not behind those walls. If what he does behind the walls equals what he does on game day and it's positive then how can yo not be excited?

Not likely. Notre Dame's defense is awful. A decent showing Tuesday tells us nothing about how he's gonna play in the SEC next year.

You think wearing a football jersey makes someone an expert at judging QB talent? So you value the judgment of a kid just out of high school on a QB's developing skills?

I would value a kid's opinion who is playing the game over you self-absorbed ignorant fricks who deem yourselves message board football Gods. Some of you need to develop severe allergic reactions to computers for a few decades.

What? He caught three passes and a touchdown last game.

Some people on here are a special type of retarded.

Jennings as starter in 2015 =

*No West division title
*No conference championship appearance
*No playoff opportunity
*No national championship game
*No top tier bowl

You can overcome a weakness at many positions but not at QB. You don't have to be an All-American but you need to have a few skills. This will be his 14th game as a starter. For college, that's more than enough to show what you've got.

Tell me more about your amazing recruiting skills and talent evaluation on players you have never consistently watched practice.

Your response unfortunately is like so many, u lack reading comprehension. I never said AJ played good this year or that anyone watching couldn't determine that he looked pretty bad this year. My point was and is, how can anyone tell us by watching last year that he has hit his ceiling??? Almost any idiot can watch a game and look at the stats to say if a player performed "good" or "bad". My problem is that after one season message board smart asses want to give us their expert opinion of their future potential; then tell us that the player is nothing but a career back up at best. How many players just take longer to learn a position? How many take a couple years for the light to turn on?? I am not saying that I want crappy play for two years, but damn let these guys grow and mature.

So if they want to piss on players who appear to work hard and represent LSU correctly, I will continue to question their abilities be a "talent evaluator". At least their true identity is hidden from public criticism. My critique of them is less harsh than theirs of players and we see how defensive they get even though nobody knows who they are, lol.

This is a far cry from "not throwing him under a bus". If he'd said something like, "Anthony is a better QB than he gets credit for" or "Not all the passing problems were Anthony's fault" then your comment would make sense. But his comment was fulsome praise, not just "not throwing him under a bus".

Here are the facts about AJ that an unbiased observer could enumerate:

1. He definitely is improving and has not hit his ceiling
2. His ceiling is probably not very high. He doesn't have great arm strength, and he's on the short side.
3. While he's showing improvement, it isn't rapid.
4. His receivers were lousy this year because they weren't ready for prime time (besides Dural).
5. If Harris puts in the work he'll pass AJ; if not, AJ will probably be a capable QB next year.
