How long did you lie to yourself about the Star Wars prequels?

It took a little while for me. I remember telling people that Episode I was "just setting everything up" and then when II was bad saying "It's all leading to Episode III, then it will all make sense".
I don't think it was until "Darth" screamed NOOOOOOOOOOO that it hit me that the prequels were crap.

I honestly cannot sit down and stomach the first two. The 3rd one is shite when you factor in expectations but it's at least watchable.

I had low expectations. Never needed to lie to myself. Same with the Hobbit.

as i was walking out of the theater post-episode 2 i yelled "GEORGE LUCAS CAN SUCK MY DICK" to my friends that i saw
Ep1 was the best of the 3 but it still sucked...but the pod race and final fights were pretty engrossing in theaters
i had turned on it before it was out on VHS though

I remember being incredibly underwhelmed and disappointed after watching the midnight showing of Ep. 1. Might have watched it 2 other times since.
After that, presuming that the rest would be shite, I just watched 2 and 3 as a formality, on DVD. It was painful to get through both. Never have rewatched and likely never will.

Episode 1 came out 15 years ago.
Chew on that for a minute.

I was too young to really know good from bad
In hindsight, holy shite episode 2 is so, so bad

You want to know what's real fricking sad?
I'm apparently the only one in my group of friends (I'm 21) that grew up and recognizes the greatness of the original trilogy. I used to watch the (Han shot first edition) VHSs of the originals nearly everyday as a kid
One of my roommates has never seen the originals and the other likes the new trilogy better
It makes my head want to explode Everytime the argument comes up.

Saw episode 1 seven times in theatre
I was 19. Now I can barely watch it. 2 was awful. 3 is decent

About a third of the way through "Send in the Clones".
I watched that last one - only out of a sense of obligation, like "Let's get it over with."
When "Vader" does the "Noooooo!!!!!" at the end, which I completely saw coming with the music, the montage, the soundtrack - I actually laughed out loud. I think I tried to watch "The Cartoon Menace" one time on video, perhaps before watching clones, but couldn't finish it.
Those movies are beyond terrible.

I just spent 5 minutes looking for an appropriate rage reaction .gif and couldn't find one that looked good enough for this situation.
