It will be a magnet school with bio science, stem, and arts concentration. The plan for this school is that it will compete with BRMHS. Watch out private schools.

How is "bio science" separate from STEM?

Oh they are emphasizing "arts" as well?...what are they not emphasizing? It annoys me every new school throws around STEM and arts as hot phrases. I can't tell you how many "stem academies" there are in the hoods of Nola Detroit or Chicago. Sounds like they all teach math, science, arts etc just like every HS has done forever everywhere.

Youre right. But they have a good theater and music program along with engineering intro classes and biology for college credit. They have basketball and soccer.

If they will have football (BRMHS doesn't) and all of the traditions and "high school experience"s that go along with it, then it might be something to consider for the future.

If the Demographics are what Lee High was like when I went there (93) or close to it,......no

We had 3-4 literal gang fights while I was there.

In fact I moved to Austin for this reason

True, I went to BRMHS, and it wasn't a good high school experience. No football games, school spirit, but there were some fun things like intramural. Wish I could've played football.
Bu this school will be free, have a good education, and a "liberal college" feel.

Would you send your kids to Scotlandville High? Calling yourself a magnet school is only part of the equation here.

If the magnet section was separated from the regular school and the athletics improved I would maybe consider.
