You cant understand why someone who maybe doesnt start off LOVING Christmas might start hating it by being beaten over the head with it for a month and a half a year?

I dont hate Christmas but I get. I dont have any children in my family at the moment so the whole gift buying/receiving thing is almost enough to push me over the edge haha.

I don't hate Christmas, and enjoy sharing it with family, however I do hate the arbitrary date on the calendar that causes the rat race only because I have to travel to do so. The few holidays I get off a year I spend the majority of in an airport dealing with unorganized chaos, delays, security, over crowdedness, etc.

I try to usually avoid this by visiting the weekend before or after, but my parents get furious if I'm not there on THAT DAY which I really don't understand.

No person to my knowledge has ever told me how I should celebrate Christmas.

Honestly, it sounds like your life is miserable in general. Don't blame it on Christmas.

do you give gifts? have a tree? have lights? do elf on the shelf?

if so, then not only have people told you how to celebrate Christmas, but you have followed their instructions perfectly

I don't think I said it was Christmas' fault. Miserable, no. Difficult, yes. Just not a fan of Christmas and the added stress. It's just life every other time of the year

Well hell ....I'm tired if people telling me how I should play golf.
Or drive my truck.
Or how many ducks I can shoot.

That's fricking retarded on your part and you know it.

what? you can't admit that you celebrate Christmas a certain way because that is how you were told to celebrate it?

I'm not saying its a bad thing or anything, just be honest though

Not really. I have to go out and spend time and money buying people stuff and they have to do the same for me. That is what it is, not what I make it.

You just refuse to see any perspective but your own, which is why you will continue to be confused.

I think your generalizations are oversimplified. Christmas is a very stressful time of year for a lot of people. If your life is already stressful, added stress isn't exactly something you look forward to every year. I'm unemployed this year, which makes things so much worse. Add in the fact that my son has to see a cardiologist tomorrow and I'm stressed the frick out about that. And then I don't get my kids all day Christmas anymore. I get them until noon and the rest of the day is miserable and depressing as hell. No family to see. We usually end up eating dinner at Waffle House because it's the only place open. It's a lot of stress in an already stressful life for half a good day. From noon on, I am the most depressed I am all year long.

Add on top of this people like TIGERLEE telling everyone how terrible they are for feeling stressed out about Christmas, because after all, it is what you make it.

But TIGERLEE says it is what you make it, so buck up sonny.

This is where it is what you make it.

Nobody is forcing you to go do all of that.
