My parents hate Christmas. It is mostly to do with their religious beliefs though as they believe that it is routed in mostly pagan traditions and is entirely too commercialized to be a religious holiday.
I'm apathetic towards it. Don't hate it. Don't love it.

Thanksgiving > Christmas
Same great food without the hassle of malls, traffic, songs, and decorations.
Food, football, and naps.

I think your generalizations are oversimplified. Christmas is a very stressful time of year for a lot of people. If your life is already stressful, added stress isn't exactly something you look forward to every year. I'm unemployed this year, which makes things so much worse. Add in the fact that my son has to see a cardiologist tomorrow and I'm stressed the frick out about that. And then I don't get my kids all day Christmas anymore. I get them until noon and the rest of the day is miserable and depressing as hell. No family to see. We usually end up eating dinner at Waffle House because it's the only place open. It's a lot of stress in an already stressful life for half a good day. From noon on, I am the most depressed I am all year long.

Hey, question.....how old are you?
While there is for sure some truth in your post - I'd agree w/most of it in fact - I'd tell you that "the reason you can't understand....." is because you're not walked a mile in someone else's shoes.
I don't at all hate Christmas. There are parts - most parts, in fact - that I love. At age 48 though, I know that at least once, every year, somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm likely going to cry like a little bitch. I'm going to be reminded that Christmas's, while my mom was alive and healthy, were the Louisiana Christmas's of legend......huge family gatherings, 10+ cousins hunting together, 75 family members ath times gathered....And how I'll never see that again, as cancer took her at a young age in 06, and after doing so, those huge gatherings stopped (I've had so many cousins say "gosh your mom could pull that off and make it look so easy). I'm going to cry like a little bitch knowing that in what feels like the blink of an eye, my only child went from being a bobbed hair little princess to a college senior contemplating where to go to refine her legal aspirations. There's other things too that I'll wind up "crying out" every year around Christmas. While i for don't hate it, I can see how someone's great emotional pain is felt most at Christmas, and if it was bad enough, and I knew it was coming every year, I can understand.

That sucks dude and I genuinely feel for you.
You don't have any friends to go hang with?
You'd be welcome at my house should I know you.

:-(
Punkin.
Why don't you decide that this year is going to be different? Cook a meal with your SO? Have some wine and turn up the radio? Do a puzzle? Cheesy movie night? Don't be depressed on Christmas?!

I love Christmas time more than any other time of the year. I don't understand how anybody could hate it.

People who hate Christmas really don't hate Christmas, they hate their families, miss their families, love trolling Christians, or some personal tragedy occurred on Christmas. No one hates Christmas. Even the Taliban loves Christmas.

Once November hits I'm usually more depressed than usual until around super bowl/ Mardi Gras time. Then before you know it it's Spring Break time then BAM April arrives with theFQ fest, then BAM again, last weekend of April is the first weekend of Jazz Fest.... How someone could enjoy the winter months baffles me.

and the "they must be poor" reason for hating Christmas is retarded
all the poor people I knew/know love Christmas because it is the only time of the year they do get presents
it might not be an iPad or whatever, but they still get gifts

Everyone has families. It's not a friend day. But, not posting for a feel sorry for me. You asked why people hate Christmas. That's why I hate it. I can't afford to give my kids very much, especially this year. My little one is sick and I want to give him especially really awesome Christmases because his are limited. But I can't. It's just a sad time of year for me, and I'm always glad when it's over.

I enjoy the meaning of Christmas and spending time with family but the consumerism and buying everyone something is out of control.
