I merely responded to your assertion this doesn't happen often. It happens enough.

The individuals and groups who erect the atheist and satanic displays aren't attempting to promote their beliefs. They're far more interested in creating a distraction and garnering attention.
They have every right to do so and I would do nothing to prohibit that right. If being a whiny little bitch invokes a feeling of satisfaction deep within their being then God bless them.

I saw it.
You don't think the image of the serpent is representative of Satan? All they're missing is an apple to complete the alliteration.

Then the rest of them need to stop letting them speak for them. Again, something I don't care about. I hope more atheists start doing this kind of nonsense so more people will turn toward the truth.

Maybe some are simply looking for attention, but many others are trying to display their beliefs
Displaying beliefs is a form of seeking attention, IMO.
Churches often display nativity scenes on their grounds to seek attention from passersby in hopes they'll join the congregation. I don't have a problem with that.
I'd rather not see those displays, from any religious or non-religious group, at government grounds.

I've never seen anything where a strawberry was used. An apple would have made it more obvious to more people, which is clearly what they were going for.

The problem is that postmodernism is bent on cultural deconstruction. The problem with that, naturally, is that postmodernists do not have any regard for why the cultural construct was created in the first place. They have forgotten what true evil looks like when it is unleashed.
It's like the anti-cop movement. You think modern police are abusive? Just wait until there is no more police force. Postmodernists do not have any plausable solution to human problems. They simply riot, literally and figuratively.
This atheist display is a "protest" pure and simple.

it's possible. the original bible had a serpent in the Adam/Eve sotry and it didn't represent Satan. that's likely the symbolic representation (misunderstanding of the original biblical texts by revisionist Christians, hence the "knowledge" statement)

I don't mind them being on government grounds. That doesn't mean I can't question the motives of the people placing them.

Going to Hell would be an upgrade over living in Detroit.

again, i'm goign to sound like a broken record, but look at our societal indicators. violent crime, property crime, abortion, teen pregnancy, etc all going way down. lots of positive indicators (especially world wide) are going way up.

quote:Dude, there's no "letting them speak for them." They can and should do whatever they want. It's people like you who, for some inexplicable reason, lump all atheists together, despite the fact that atheists only share ONE thing in common, which is the lack of belief in a deity. That's it.
Then the rest of them need to stop letting them speak for them. Again, something I don't care about. I hope more atheists start doing this kind of nonsense so more people will turn toward the truth.
Feel free to seem stupid and ignorant all you want. At the end of the day, it's no skin off my back.

I've never heard of the serpent being anything other than Satan. I'm sure most others hsvent either. It's obvious what they weregoing for.

that creates a loaded argument
i presume you don't question or disparage the motives of those who build the christian displays?

I'll make sure to let everyone know at the next convention. Can you stop the Muslim extremists from blowing stuff up since you all believe in a deity? Ok thanks.

You're starting to bore me.

Satan sat on a strawberry serpent = alliteration
An apple gives the gift of knowledge = allusion

perhaps you should follow their cue and gain more knowledge?
Satan and Hell are concepts that developed very late in the progress of Christianity and they're not really that present in Judaism

You miss the point. All it would take is for atheists to come out against these displays by the attention whores in their fold. This doesn't happen. For me, that makes it seem obvious you guys support this action.
