It's very interesting that in order to avoid questions as to belief regarding origins of existence, one would actually claim we may not exist at all. Makes for one helluva head-up-the-arse contortion

Actually it only means that I know I exist.

My constructs of existence are all I can truly know as fact.

As I've said, it is incredibly curious an atheist would attempt the claim as to be (A) pro-science, but (B) without even so much as a hypothesis as to beginnings, origin of matter, etc. That is absolutely fascinating.

Why?

Now you're just trying really hard to sound smart. You exist, and based on your experiences, you can logically deduce, with greater efficacy than you can evolution, that others also exist. They behave similarly to you. They see you. You engage with them. They can be aware of you entirely apart from your awareness of them. They die without your consent. They are born without your approval. They hurt you without your sanction.

If you, and you alone, existed, these people and things would bend to your will, because the universe would be nothing but a construct of your mind and therefore exist essentially for your benefit or amusement.

I didn't make an assertion, he did. And I said it was a dumb one. And I've been waiting for him to prove his assertion since then. And you are chiming in trying to lead this away from the one point I'm wanting him to prove.
And when he can't make that point, he'll have to admit that his atheism is based on faith and not facts.

I think it's great. It clearly jars people to find that something other than a major abrahamic religion can occupy public space.

I love it too. I enjoy seeing Christians get bent out of shape over other people having the gall to reject their ridiculous religious beliefs and speak out for their own minority beliefs. It drives those hypocrites nuts.

So consider me a non-existent figment of your only possibly existent imagination.

This figment is asking you now, do you also deny the existence of matter?

Let's try this again . . . . Layout your hypothesis of the origin of matter.

He doesn't claim to lack belief in the idea that God exists, he said definitively that he does not and that he has the facts to prove it so save your glass banging until he proves it.

Thank you.

Everything you mentioned that makes me know that I exist is observable.

Re-read the OP. This has zero to do with the OP woman's beliefs.

Why? What's it got to do with the price of tea in China?

And is miles away from any point I may make about the existence of God. I was just engaging the rather boring point you were making.

So as I posited earlier, your answer is:

"Uh, ah dunno. can't be a'ponderin' thangs ah dunno 'bout."

In fact it is the requisite answer for anyone asserting atheism to be something other than a belief.

And unless anyone has forgotten, this is Porkchops smug post;

quote:

An atheist bases things on facts. A Christian bases things on beliefs. Facts are verifiable. Beliefs are unverifiable.

And I'm still waiting on these verifiable facts that there is no God?!

I find it curious that I've sided with the atheists for much of this thread, while defending a belief in God, and they haven't asked me once why I believe in God despite my acknowledgement that science doesn't and can't prove God.

That's why we should all be agnostic and just admit that we don't know.
