The whole real Christmas tree thing escapes me. So how does it work?

I was just driving down a main drag and saw a sedan with big arse Christmas tree tied to the roof. So what the hell is that all about? First off, it is like less than a week til Christmas. If I were going to go through the trouble of setting up a big arse tree, I would want more than 4 days usage. Has anyone in here ever bought a last minute Christmas tree? What is that all about?

I leave my tree up into January. Christmas actually doesn't start until the 25th. The season lasts for a little while after.

Why not, shite ends up dieing, needles fall on your floor, if you have dogs have to watch them with it.

Real trees have that unmatched Christmas tree smell, and probably look nicer. Don't have to spend a couple hundred on them either

We used to get them the weekend before Christmas, as then the needles wouldn't fall all over. Now I just use a fake tree.
Next year they want a flocked real tree.. we will see.

Also on Christmas eve you can usually get free trees, so some enterprising people wait until then.

My GF's family observes the European tradition of putting a tree up Christmas Eve and leaving it up for 12 days.

Back in the day, we used to all pitch in and gather our neighborhood trees and have a big bond fire. It was really something.

We used to get ours after the 4th Sunday of Advent and would only put lights on it and then decorate on Christmas Eve. It would stay up until the Epiphany.

What are you so worried about? Maybe they are a couple of empty nesters who have a lot of money and are simply having to tree delivered to their house for a very exquisite party, of which you or I were not invited.

Don't sound so academic or naïve.

scrooge is possibly the worst "bad guy" in a story ever. now the story changes, but in most versions, scrooge was right.
