With it being as drY as they have been, they are in areas that were moist through the dry period

Too dry no earthworms

No earthworms no woodcock

Is it woodcock or snipe that would be hanging around flooded fields in big flocks?
In years past, i have seen some kind of small birds with long bills working shallow flooded fields, almost like teal.

That is snipe, woodcock are a little bigger and have an orange color to them. You can sometimes see them flying and dusk or daylight. They look like a big bat..

Little wick and I got a traditionally well producing woodcock spot this morning. No other hunters. Walked and rode bikes for 7+ miles. We covered a lot of good looking ground and didn't move a bird. He and the dogs are tired and I am disappointed...
