Lower than it should be? Yes. We should not have lost to Georgia or Ole Miss last year, or Bama this year.

That said, Miles is still Top 10 in wins since then, and the only significant gap is to Jimbo, Meyer, and Saban.

It's just interesting that all of these threads ignore 2011. It's almost like we didn't go undefeated in regular season conference play.

go back and look up the numbers for last season. when you lose about 30 underclassmen to the draft over the last 4 yrs it is hard to maintain that level of play. This study has no relevance.

bear in mind that LSU FB takes no money from the academic institution and give money to it. only two schools in the country do that, LSU and Neb.

The Mulligan had exactly the effect on CFB that the SEC/ESPN hoped it would....

To the point it even deluded the majority of our miserable fanbase.

I'm sorry but this is bullshite. We may not have won much but we're the only team in the conference that annually goes toe-to-to with them.

Sweet moral victories. We are playing in Nashville at 3:00 p.m. on December 30th while Alabama is playing for a National Title for the 3rd time in 4 years, but we gave 'em a heck of game.

You're right we are the only team with talent on the same level as Bama, but yet we can't seem to finish a season lately without losing to someone outside the top 25.

They've managed the QB position much better. Evaluation, recruitment, development. It's really that simple most years. Defenses and other positions are pretty comparable, and that goes back to coaching.

Can't disagree with that. Our defense came a long way this year from Game 1 to end of November. Although I would say it is more than just the QB position, I think they have done a better job developing offensive strategy and play calling. Did a great job this year of taking advantage of matchups.

That of course show the problem. Defense is the one part of the team that Miles seems to be hands off.

You brought up being competitive, not me. I don't consider losing anything a moral victory.

Ohio State lost to Virginia Tech and is in the playoff. Auburn lost to aTm. Dont act like this is unique to LSU.

Goes hand in hand with our QB play aside from 2013, they've had to try to mask the miserable QB play with ultra conservative play calling.

Just mind blowing tons of schools can attain an average passing game. We recruit these dual threat guys and put them in a pro style offense and essentially don't even have a single threat. Really baffling.

Not saying it doesn't happen, but it seems like it is starting to be annual occurrence around here.

Being competitive within your division doesn't mean keeping the score close, it means being in contention for the division title. We really haven't been there since the first weekend of November 2012.

We were there the first weekend of November 2014.

No we weren't. We already had two losses in the division. One of those losses to a team that was undefeated (Miss. St.) so we were effectively 2.5 to 3 games back in the division starting November. Even if we ran the table from the first weekend of November on we would have lost out to Miss. St.

This is true. As a fan of LSU, I will concede that point. However, I'm also not blind to the fact that we lost way more to the draft than expected, and that hurt.

As for the Bama game this year, yeah, we kept it close and that made for an entertaining game. The reality of it was, however, that we WERE NOT GOING TO WIN THE GAME no matter what. I don't care how well we would have played. Bama was going to the playoff come hell or high water. This was made clear when LSU needed instant replay in order for their lone TD to count.

Fast forward 10-12 questionable calls later and LSU magically loses in OT.

Wasn't meant to be. Maybe next year.

If you don't like it, then either quit watching or quit paying for tickets. I chose to quit paying for tickets. I only go to games where my ticket is free or well below face value.

I know what type of entertainment I'm watching and do not choose to pay full value for it. As soon as you can wrap your brain around reality, the happier you will be as a person and a fan.

There were like 50 threads about this. In a four-way tie between LSU, Bama, Miss, and MSST, LSU wins the West this year.

Good, so we were clinging to a mathematical possibility during the first weekend in November.

LSU hasn't been a contender the last 3 years and that's unacceptable. People point out that we're ahead of so many programs when in fact we're in the middle of the pack in the SEC as it currently stands.

Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, USCe....we're much closer to being on par with them then being on the same level of Bama.

well we beat the SEC/West champions last year. Clearly Alabama wasn't the class of the west in 2013. And we also haven't played Alabama 4 times the past 3 years. Why are you including the 2011 championship game? oh yeah, for dramatic effect. Alabama has only lost 4 games total the past 3 years, but we're the only team underachieving right?

A mathematical possibility which actually happened.
