The murders typically happen between thugs. Robberies, rape, muggings, people getting beaten, etc are affecting too many normal tax paying folks.
Etc. Wouldn't surprise me if these pieces of shite are starting or have realized that less bodies = less attention = more opportunity for petty crimes.

The best thing that could happen is some good Samaritan carrying a weapon blows away some young punk (or two) on the street there. That would make the rest of the aspiring criminals think twice about coming.

You should round up a posse. Go down there and act like a drunk tourist but be completely sober and carrying. Stumble down some back streets with a Bama polo & beads and just bait them in. Hell you could make a reality TV show out of it.

I want to believe this, but fear that will start a bigger shitshow.
I have never carried a weapon, or been attacked, but am starting to think of buying pepper spray.

Well, the optimal solution is that the NOPD actually does their job and has increased patrols and presence instead of a bunch of fat guys on horses next to Tropical Isle.

I agree, but I fear a white person, shooting one of these black thugs, has the recipe to turn into a Trayvon Martin type case.
Eta: I'm not saying its not people of all races committing these crimes.

Remember the uproar by the liberals a while back when the idea of armed civilian patrols came up. Instead of fixing the problem they have done absolutely nothing. This is what happens when you let liberals run your city into the ground.

Not saying that won't happen but I feel that whites and blacks get along with each other a lot more in New Orleans than other places.

I agree, but this is still the South. Race is still an issue. Hell, we had Ferguson protests down here, trying to walk up onto I-10 and block traffic.

Not a crime issue, but I wouldn't want to get in ANY sort of a bind in the Quarter at all. You're on your own IMO. My neighbors were in a fender bender last year on decatur and they waited FIVE HOURS for an NOPD squad car to show up.
