Waders vs Temperature

I have some 5mm 1,200 gram lacrosse waders that I haven't worn yet. I also have an uninsulated pair. Temp where I will be is 53/60 with 10-20 mph winds. Can anyone recommended which would be the best option? I don't want to sweat my arse off but also don't want to be cold if I don't need to be. I will not be standing in water for long.

Definitely the uninsulated. I wouldnt wear the 5mm 1200 gram unless I was going to be standing in waist deep water all morning and the water temp was 40 degrees with air temps in the twenties.
I would wear a pair of pants and regular socks underneath my uninsulated waders in 60 degree weather. Maybe even shorts.

I've always hunted in uninsulated waders, so you should be fine. Just wear jeans or something warm under

you will sweat like crazy in the 1200g waders

I think this is the definitive response I needed to see.

Uninsulated I only wear my thick ones like that when there is ice on the ground or at least a frost with a good wind.

I see this way too often.
Do you people not know they make some really comfy shite to wear under your waders besides denim?

It also is highly dependent on how you're hunting. Most of my hunts are on public land that require a half-mile walk or mile plus paddle. Insulated waders kill me in these situations.
However, if you're being driven into a blind and will just be sitting still all morning, the thicker waders probably won't hurt you.

Yea I usually unbuckle my waders and pull the chest part down around my waist when I'm paddling

I've got about a 70-80 yard walk lugging decoys and shite so it's not bad. No long walk or paddle.

You will prlly be sweating in the uninsulated pair if you have to walk more than 100 yards. It has to be at or below freezing to not sweat in waders if you have any type of walking to do.

I bought these new Game Winner hybrids a few weeks ago that I'm gonna finally try out this weekend. Probably wear shorts underneath them

Unless you will be standing in cold water eg ATCH or MISS R use the uninulated. I use wader pants in waders or overalls, they are polar tech w a stirrup so they dont ride up. They are great, not expensive, comfy, stretch much better than jeans and warmer than sweatpants (which is what I used before).

I just wear whatever I have on, and that is usually jeans
