I used to believe the same old stories about spoonies and merganzers tasting bad and thus avoided them. With the correct preparation (smoking) even merganser is damn good.

Only knocked down one spoon this year and she got away. Lit a bunch with a sport in the blind once, and he said ya'll don't shoot em. I said no, we wait on something better. This was when the limit was only 3 per. The sport chimmed in and said, they taste pretty good in a gumbo.
