but it's not like a woman has to sign off on a man getting a vasectomy.
Consent is not required, but common sense dictates that most urologists will inquire if they have discussed it with their significant other. Some urologists would object to performing the procedure on a man who has a very vocal significant other who objects (at that point the patient is encouraged to get a second opinion or find a provider who is comfortable with the scenario).
Fortunately this is not a very common problem.

From a woman's perspective, I do think that the father should have a say in whether the couple's baby lives or dies. I do have an issue with how this bill is worded and with the domestic violence part and perhaps that can be worked on and altered. The life and safety of both mother and baby are important. I despise women who deny the fathers any rights but then go to great lengths to make sure they get every penny of child support they can squeeze out of him. Whatever animosity there is (and I'm not referring to violence here, but a more or less 'normal' divorce, if there is such a thing) is between the spouses, and the baby has no fault.

There is an easy solution to all of this.
Use a god damn condom.
Sorry guys you have no rights to a woman's body.

Are you suggesting that condoms are 100% reliable? Research and warnings on the boxes would suggest otherwise.

quote:(1) LeonPhelps, anybody ever stuff a butternut squash up your arse?
I will never understand the liberal stance that murdering innocent babies is perfectly fine so long as the mother is not inconvenienced
Because let me guarantee you, passing it is an """inconvenience""".
Welcome to a mild form of childbirth.
(2) LeonPhelps, have you ever received multiple blood transfusions (maybe in conjunction with trying to pass that butternut squash)?
Because I'll assure you related complications are an """inconvenience""".
Transfusion related Hepatitis, AIDS, reactions, etc.? They happen.
(3) LeonPhelps, have you ever undergone Abdominal Surgery?
Because I'll promise you, it is indeed an inconvenience.
Hurts like hell.
(4) Ever had surgical complications?
Make #(3) feel like child's play.
(5) Ever die during a medical procedure? You know . . . . my guess would be . . . . no.
No, it is pretty damn obvious you have not died during a medical procedure!
Why? . . . . .
Because if you had, you at least know it damn well was an """inconvenience""".

Well, it's very fortunately the world you live in, and you like it whether you know it or not. If I were to transport you to an alternate reality where an abortion had never been performed, you'd be begging to come back to this one instantly.
Care to elaborate why you have come to this conclusion?

There would be more black and poor people.
That's the whole point of abortion. To get rid of them. Seriously, look it up.

I don't think women should need permission from the men. Just that if a man doesn't want a the child he should be able to opt of out child support if she still wants the kid and he doesn't.
Of course they are making us all pay already right now for all these bastard kids out there.

There's no scientific or medical procedure to verify a fathers legal right to the fetus.
He can't prove it's his
Dumb idea.

i was denied a vasectomy b.c i didn't have kids. Dr was an a-hole, found a new dr.
to OP, this is a great idea by missouri republicans for making sure that HRC is elected. why can't thye just shut the frick up?

A man cannot force a woman into a medical procedure.
Also, in vitro paternity is fine later in a pregnancy. There's no way to do if in the first trimester.

I disagree with this. If I want a kid, and she wants nothing to do with it, and so long as I support her throughout the pregnancy, I should be allowed to raise the kid by myself if I choose. I really don't look at abortion as an absolute issue and look at it case by case. I sympathize with Michael Corleone.

A woman isn't forcing a man into a medical condition.

Yeah, because that's worked so well in the past.
If people want to frick, then they're going to frick. Nothing is going to stop someone, but we need to make sure they're properly armed for such an endeavor.
