Glad we don't have a non looker like Dawn Staley coaching here.

Before they hired Staley, South Carolina's WBB program was a joke.

She has turned the program around and currently they are ranked #1 in the country.

You can keep making this thread after every loss but it still won't happen. This year seems destined to be a failure but it'll be the first in her 4 years. She'll get a talking to about righting the ship and that's it.

I don't give a shite about WBB, but if I was AD, I'd rehire Pokey.

There, I said it and support firing a coach who if she does not at least get us over .500 overall (a low bar) at any point this season and if we finish 10th or lower in SEC and make no post season trny in her 4th year with 5 of her recruiting classes and having just missed out on #1 player she needs to be fired.

I thought she did a very good job last year.

What was your opinion?

This year is a complete disaster. Yes people will say she deserves next year to get the ship back on track. This recruiting class has only one player. Caldwell missed on a few prospects that were interested in us. We are losing Boykin, Harden. Next year does not look promising by any means. The SEC is getting stronger as well, look at everyone elses recruiting classes. Mississippi State is a very good team now, it could get really ugly soon for this team. The bottom line is the performance of this team is completely unacceptable. Half the players on this roster shouldn't even be on an SEC team. It really is scary that Anne Pedersen, Rina Hill and others have a scholarship here. I am a WBB follower, I support all LSU athletics but now this program is downright embarrassing. You can see this staff looks defeated. Caldwell says the same exact thing every post game. Something needs to change quickly this year or she needs to go

LSU was once a threat to win it all. I'm not big on WBB, but this is bad. She looks good but the team doesn't. I cannot blame Alleva for this, she was thought to be a good hire at the time. Crap happens.

I would have started looking to fire her after she had a child out of wedlock. Terrible message to send to young girls, especially young black females.

Remember, 70% of black children are born into single parent households. For the kind of money we are paying her, I would have expected her to set a better example.

Now that she is losing, it should be a no-brainer, fire her and move on.

Can't say I disagree, honestly. I used to greatly enjoy WBB around the time of Augustus, Fowles, and Pokey. My interest waned with Van because let's be honest--the man was a clown.

I was enthusiastic with Caldwell. I saw a young, enthusiastic Coach with some Summit pedigree from UT. All the makings of a great hire, but geez. What happened? Is Caldwell just not into it here? Wasn't she more than .500 at UCLA? I mean, we are paying her a boatload of money...

I wasn't going there but she was one of two at the same staff having babies out of wed lock...I am not judging just a fact

Saintsfan is there ANY record this year say 4-12 sec and 11-17 overall with no. new signees for next year where you would agree she needs to go? Just asking.

I know there were allegations she had inappropriate relations, but was it ever confirmed it was a current student-athlete or a former student-athlete? Everything transpired so fast with her departure (I think she literally left in the middle of the night) that I don't recall a true answer. It seemed like the LSU brass just wanted it to go away as fast as possible.

I agree with this (as I always do). ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

With that being said, I actually attended last night's game, as opposed to watching them on the Geauxzone. Yes, this is probably the worst team LSU has had since 1996. There's not a lot of talent..................especially in the post. And, if Ballard doesn't come back...............which it doesn't appear that she is................then they're definitely going to finish below .500 in conference play. However, you can't go firing coaches just because they have one subpar year.................which is what this will be for Caldwell. However, if the team suffers next season...........and doesn't appear to be able to recruit any top talent..........then the AD will be obligated to at least put pressure on the coach.

I'm inclined to agree with your initial post.

At the very least LSU admin should tell her to hire an elite recruiter on staff or she can hit the road at the end of the year.

Because I actually believe she is a good Xs and Os coach when she has good talent.

This type of stuff is why I don't take you seriously.

thanks saintsfan your an honest man (or woman), there is NO botttom for you in NC's 4th year that you think she should not be back for a 5th year....
as for take me seriously, that hurt....but after reading your opinion I now know to not take you seriously as a fan of LSU WBB, you are willing to accept anything as long as NC gets a 5th year, you care more about her than our program...to each his own...wow....wow

Do you honestly think that coaches should get fired over having children out of wedlock?

I don't think firing a coach after one bad year in 4 is a good idea. To people who've been waiting to fire her I'm sure it's a great idea.

You think I'm saying that about Caldwell in particular. If you factored her pregnancy into a decision to fire her she would own the athletic department not long afterward.
