Without Beal: 19.4ppg, 9.1 assists, 3.9rebs, 2.3steals, 0.4 blocks, with a FG% of 43.0%.

With Beal: 16.4ppg, 11.1assists, 5.4rebs, 2.1steals, 1.1blocks, with a FG% of 45.4%.

And he went off again tonight for 21pts, 17assists, 4rebs, 1 steal, and shot 52.9%.

His last 9 games hes averaged 16.8ppg, 12.8assists, 5.8rebs, 1.5blocks, 2.0steals, and shooting 48.6%.

His #s are still pretty good before Beal came back, but he is so much more efficient with Beal on the floor and doesnt have to force it on the offensive end. And he averages abut 1.5 more rebs and 1 more block with Beal on the floor.

Hes clearly taken the next step in his career from last year to this year and is finally turning into that player everyone thought he could be coming out of college. Hes so fun to watch and has been killing it this year

How does Beal on the floor relate to an extra block a game? Seems totally random.

If you weren't moved by his clutch performance in that win after the little girl he was close to passed away, you just aren't going to be a fan of his.

He plays such an exciting style of basketball and I think he's becoming a lot smarter out there which translates to much better numbers

This is a ridiculously clown post, bro. His numbers are arguably better without Beal. 2.4% more is so much more efficient? That equates to 1 extra made bucket every 7 or so games. Considering the sample size, its probably literally the difference between 1 shot rimming out.

Even if you buy that the 2 extra assists are statistically relevant, does that actually mean he's playing better? Beal might just be scoring more buckets than his backup who Wall made equally good passes to. His stats are almost exactly what you would expect with the return of a good 2 guard. A few less points, same efficiency, and a couple more assists. Change in rebounds, blocks, and steals are almost certainly a product of sample size.

I really think this is the stupidest premise for a thread I've ever seen. I don't see how it can't be a joke. Why didn't you just make a thread that John Wall has been playing well this year?

It is kinda random The only thing I could come up with is that since Wall doesnt have the ball in his hands as much with Beal on the floor, hes able to get back on D vs the fast break and snowbirds

2 more assists, 1.5 more rebs, 1 more blocks, scoring more efficiently and playing better defense = playing better. Hes responsible for more points scored, either by scoring himself or assisting, with a lower usage rate, shooting the ball less and scoring the ball more efficiently.

And his 3pt% without Beal was 25%, with Beal its 37.5%.

The 1 thing that people have knocked John Wall for is his lack of efficiency. Before Beal returned from injury, Wall was at 43% which is right around his career average. Since Beal returned, hes been shooting 45.8% which is by far the best of his career. And over an 82game season, that 2% difference adds up.

And look at his last 9 games....16.8ppg, 12.8assists, 5.8rebs, 1.5blocks, 2.0steals, and shooting 48.6%. Thats 3.7assists more, almost 2 rebs more, 1 block more, and more efficient scorer by a good margin.

Btw, as of tonight, his 15 double-doubles leads all point guards.

No, he doesn't have 1 more block. He has .7 more blocks and .2 less steals. He is more. Shooting the ball less is only a good thing if the guy shooting it/turning it over instead of you is more efficient than your additional shots. From a guard, I probably take 3 extra points on 43% shooting over 46%.

So his 2 point FG% is probably worse with Beal. And a putrid 25% was surely going to correct itself anyway with a bigger sample size. If not, he wouldn't be shooting in the first place.

Like I said, its probably literally 1 shot. Not 1 shot per game. 1 shot on the season going in versus not. Does 2% add up over the course of a season? yeah, a very small bit. But that sample size is so small that "saying over an 82 game season" is not relevant.

You want to know a statistic that isn't substantially effected by literally 1 play on a sample size that big? Turnovers. And he has an extra one of those per game since Beal has returned.

That is impressive. And doesn't point to Beal does it? As I said, just make a thread that he is playing well this year. Or make a thread he's having a good stretch.

So with Beal, he's scoring less points on a comparable field goal percentage, has a worse assist to turnover ratio, grabs a rebound and a half more per game(not really an important statistic for a PG, especially over a small sample size. Their rebounds typically aren't contested.) has more blocks and less steals. I'd say its about a wash.

Yeah, and I'm sure the people knocking him for that are so thrilled with his 2% increase in shooting percentage since Beal came back that they don't care about the extra turnover per game.
