Thanks Man!

This is the "shut it down house". At least until the kiddos get done with high school (they are 4 now). So we tried to do it right.

Jax, if you haven't had any yet, we need to hook up for a BXN soon.

Sounds good. Would love to try that. I can probably find something of equivalent value to send back.

How does it taste in the bottle compared to draft?

I have a couple of "go to" beers up here that I think are better on tap than in the bottle.

Most of the stuff I really like is draft only, so I don't have a choice.

Don't let that stop you. Pick one up for 5 bucks or so where you buy your beer. You can always pick up a fancy stainless steel or vintage one later, when you find a good deal.

jax - no doubt that its better on draft but it isn't missing much in a bottle! Now, everything I've had has been within a week or 2 but.....

TW - any H-town mule worth his salt can score ya some, brah.

I'm not sure about the quantities or the longivity of its availability but I just assumed it was there intro to botteling and that they selected their best brew to stuff in a bottle. I picked up my stuff last week just by walking into a moderate sized Specs so I'd guess its available.

Nah. Stink is right. Stuff is all over. I saw some bottles Sunday night.

Stink - Do you know if the bottles out now are relatively fresh? Or is that still from that original bottled batch? Didn't notice any dates. I know they brew that stuff like Parish brews Canebrake, but didn't know if they were committing it to bottles that much.

ETA: I see your post above now.

Yellow rose should be fresh. They don't put out a lot so while you can find it in quite a few places, it does tend to sell out.
Picked up a bottle today, matter of fact.

Yeah. I assumed it was a newer batch than the first time I bought it in the bottle because it disappeared for a while. I'll be less hesitant next time I see it.

It holds up fairly well too since it is a simple grain bill (100% Pilsner)

I gotta play if Stink's in the game...

FBD - Buoy Beer Kettle Demon DIPA.

This is a good beer. I will keep my eye on Buoy Brewing in Astoria. There brewpub is on the water and has a glass floor so you can watch the sea lions frolicking below you while you eat and drink.

FBD: Voo Ka Ray

Went to checked out this World of Beer place and had a pleasant visit. The space, outside of being on Vets, is pretty nice. Reminds me of newer Houston type places. I typically prefer neighborhood style watering holes with organic atmospheres but this wasn't too bad even though it felt like a BWW. There wasn't many people there but the women to men ratio was on the good side.

The staff didn't know shite but I wasn't expecting them to know beer since Yeezy already has a job. They are going through some maven training program and getting educated at the moment. Iregardless the staff was very friendly, attractive, and the service was great.

The food exceeded my expectations. Order garlic parm chicken wings which were very plump and juicy. Not like those free range frail meatless wings that have become so popular. Not the best wings in town but better than average. Also order a couple shrimp tacos. Fried shrimp is not my preferred style shrimp taco but these were more than serviceable. Food prices were pretty fair.

The beeyahs. Yezzy put the selection on par with Uptown Bulldog but I would disagree. More on a Lagers level. We shall see how this plays out as relationships build within the local beer scene. I'm also not a fan of paying $7 for a pint of local IPA.

Overall the place isn't bad and is a nice addition to the area. Although I don't see myself going to this location often I can see myself at the CBD location on gamedays and what not. I'm interested to see how they do in the long run. I typically associate Metairie bars with trashy people in smoked filled rooms with women who have been ridden hard and put away wet. This place doesn't fit that bill. Not allowing kids might hurt the daddy beer nerd traffic too.

NBD - Crux Tough Love (Banished).

Love the vanilla and bourbon in this. My one complaint is that it is more carbonated than I like in this style. Would rather the mouth be more silky smooth. Great beer, though...

Really? It didn't feel like a BWW to me at all. But when I saw BWW I mean large, open, TVs, super loud. I thought the place was kinda cozy. I agree it's not very neighborhood-y. Too clean. Too "nice."

A guy a few tables over from me had the shrimp tacos and I thought they looked pretty interesting.

As for beer, I'd more or less say Lagers and Uptown are 6 in one, half a dozen in the other, so I won't argue that point. Definitely more pricey than I'd like.

I'm going to give them a week to shake off some new and head back in there. Oh, I think I told y'all (meaning NOLA Krewe) this but it's worth repeating, they're supposedly attempting to acquire a second license for retail, which is normal for most WoBs, apparently. This would enable them to mark down prices on bottles to more economical levels. Case in point, they had The Bruery Rueuze in the cooler and it was going for $30, retails here for somewhere between $19.99 and $21.99. It would be cool (perhaps unrealistic) if they could match those prices.

FBD soon
