We all carry too many tastes and therefore, too much generalization in this topic.
If you like Judas and Maiden, then you likely enjoy UFO and likely there's no way you hate Sabbath. Then, there are those who hate 3/4 or all 4 at least. Still, I do not consider that the "brand label" of Classic Rock. That is metal -- primitive metal that spawns from rock -- but still metal.
I do not consider Whitesnake such, either. And RHCP and Nirvana -- just b/c Eagle 98.1 plays these, doesn't mean classic. They need the late 20's somethings to tune in. They need a wider audience. I have heard Puddle of Mudd on 98.1 before.
And I cannot understand the hatred for Genesis. I do not like everything by them, but there's a lot of talent there.
Michael McDonald is a god, but ACDC is awful?
If you're looking for GOOD classic ROCK that the radio never plays, check out Axis, Bloodrock, Poco, and Dust. All 4 jam much harder than Kansas or Styx or Foreigner. AXIS "Circus World" is one of the best rock albums I have ever heard...Danny Johnson, Jay Davis, and Vinnie Appice. Hard hitting, 3 piece garage rock.

solo Ozzy
give me anything by Black Sabbath when Ozzy was in the band any day of the week...
But solo Ozzy is just average to me. Bark at the moon is laughably bad. Crazy Train is alright I guess, but nothing else is simply great. The recording for Mr. Crowley sounds like it was recorded in a metal shed outside his house and that is supposed to be one of his best songs.
Black Sabbath had so many great songs and they had that distinct darkness about their sound. Ozzy has always maintained that "prince of darkness" persona, but his solo work never came close to expressing it like when he was with Sabbath, in my opinion
Everyone when I was growing up were always talking about how great Randy Rhodes guitar work was on every song and how Ozzy's solo work was the best because of it. Randy was a great guitarist mind you, unbelievable! But as far as the sound of a band goes, give me Tony Iommi over Randy any day

Most of the English bands; Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks, etc.
The only English band that I like is Maiden.

I was absolutely in love with Journey growing up in the Bay Area before Steve Perry joined the band. They were a hard driving progressive rock band with Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, Ross Valory and Aynsley Dunbar as the core. I could tolerate them for a few years with Perry, but I grew to loathe them when Jonathan Cain replaced Rolie, and they developed a synthesizer sound instead of the classic Hammond B-3.

The Eagles are a soulless band created for pure monetary gain and have zero artistic integrity.

The amount of talent in every single one of those bands blows away whatever jam band you listen to.
I imagine most people dislike certain groups or songs because of 30-40 years of airplay. If they came out today, they may view their music a little more differently

This. I don't despise any classic rock band. But I'm burned out on a lot of them.

The Doors Hearing Jim Morrisson ruin Ray Manzarek and John Densmore's playing makes me angry.

I liked some Bon Scott AC/DC. Never could get into Brian Johnson.

I saw them twice at Hirsch back in the mid-late 80's. Most kickass concerts I witnessed in person. I can see how younger people might not like them but if you grew up in that era and liked classic rock and roll, you had to love AC/DC. I think they are the best pure classic rock band of all time.

+1
The "classic rock" radio stations ruin them for a lot of people because they play the same two songs from each group over and over. You can only listen to "Stairway" and "Free Bird" so many times.
