Okay, I'll play along with this ludicrous scenario for the sake of argument. Guerilla wars are at best holding actions, and they never, ever succeed without outside assistance. So what foreign power do y'all plan to ally with? Russia, China? And what parts of North American will you let them take over in exchange for their help?

Well no one (including ISIS) has taken responsibility for this. Not sure you can claim it to be ISIS just yet.

Where you and the other moron asurob1 are wrong is your presumption that the military and police forces would actually be against armed citizens and not with them.

That's when we round up all you leftist and ship you off to France.

Australia has some of the strictest immigration laws in the world.

They are not getting overrun by Muslims.

Hopefully their special forces take these scum out.

No different than Catholic priest doing the same thing. Shits fricked up.

So you don't actually want freedom. You want tyranny with your side in charge. Gotcha.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to take on a heavily armed civilian population even with our military? We're still fighting these motherfrickers in both places after more than a decade of slogging it out.

Youre comparing US Citizens who are armed to Islamic militants? Are you willing to drive a car bomb into groups of military personel? These are the tactics used by the people we are fighting. There is something that the dreaded Obama could do or say that you would find so unacceptable that you would leave your family and home for a suicide mission? I get a little pissy around tax time when I have to pay, but I'm not gonna die for it.

It's unfortunate that the news cameras got a clear look at him but he wasn't taken out by snipers.

I am guessing that the bombs aren't real or are extremely crude. I don't believe the story of two bombs in some random place downtown. But you gotta take all precautions.

From a broadly historical/marco perspective, are you really willing to argue that the objectives of al Qaeda, ISIS, the Boston Marathon Bombers, and the 1972 Munich terrorists are all that different?

I dont need to argue that for my statement to be true. Muslims do not perform 95% of terrorism. Not. Even. Close.

Ive pointed this out dozens of times: south and Central America have rates of violence and terrorism that dwarf the middle east and Islamic groups. We just dont get inundated with news about "terrorists" unless they are muslim.

American counter-insurgency policy generally stipulates that you need about 1 soldier for every 50 civilians in the population to be successful. Do the math on that - you're looking at a ground force of about 6,000,000 considering the US population, and that's without any defections and desertions. We currently have an active duty ground force (Army and USMC) about 1/10th that size, and only about 20% of that force are ground-pounders or combat arms.

It would take months and years for the military to scale up, and it'd be fighting a theoretical insurgency that is much better-educated and would probably be much better-equipped than the ones in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I live in Chicago, and when I look at the cityscape and geography here and imagine trying to fight here compared to Baghdad (where I did fight), it gives me nightmares.

Your question about willing to drive a car bomb into military personnel is a silly one. We have it great here, but if things ever got bad enough to where there was a real, legitimate insurgency or revolution, then there would be plenty of people willing to inflict extreme violence. Will and motivation are everything, and desperate situations like that will escalate the willpower of a theoretical insurgency. It has nothing to do with a particular president or set of policies.

This is an extreme over-simplification.

At least 2 people are confirmed dead. I am guessing one was the nutcase hostage taker. Supposedly he was out on bail for trying to hire someone to kill his wife and at least one sexual assault. They have video of him standing on a street corner by himself holding up a sign saying that he was tortured. May as well have read "The End Is Near."

Nope. Impossible.

I heard he was ISIS.
