A quick google search says 30 Samoans currently in the NFL.

That sounds like the number of total Polynesians in the NFL. One source I've found puts that number at 50, but it doesn't provide a list. FYI, Alabama has 42 players in the NFL, LSU 41, Oklahoma 32 and Oregon 29.

Riiiiight a Texas school is the only one to recruit out of state players for HS.

Its not like its just a neighboring state...its HAWAII. You're not just driving an extra 45 minutes to pull a kid from a district/city over. Im not saying they are the only ones. Still doesnt make it reasonable. If its a public HS then they should have more than enough talent to win if the coaching ability is there.

I don't see what's morally wrong with it.

all these Polynesian kids to stay home, would Hawaii become a major football power capable of competing for national championships?

If they can get all the Samoan kids and keep using QB HS in Hawaii to produce guys like Chang, Mariota, etc. they could win their conference year in year out.

They wouldn't compete for titles unless they got the facilities from a sugar daddy and could pluck kids from California and nationally. I just don't see enough kids wanting to be that far from home.

Hawaii is a 6 hour flight from the mainland. They are never going to be in a power conference. Therefore, they are never going to be able to retain large pools of top shelf talent.

Today, there are nearly 60 NFL players of Polynesian descent including perennial Pro Bowlers and Super Bowl Champs Troy Polamalu and Haloti Ngata (Tongan). In the last Super Bowl (XLVII), five players represented Polynesia and more and more are being selected atop the NFL Draft. Polynesian football players have become part of the American football lexicon.

Aren't there a lot of polynesians that grew up in the United States?

They don't all graduate from polynesian high schools in Polynesia.

This.

Not sure adding 1 or 2 superstar Samoans a year would elevate their program. There aren't many Samoans, which is why their per capita is so high.

Hawaii probably puts out 15-20 3-4 star recruits each year. They could put together some good teams if everyone stayed on the Islands.

I did not know that.

Are they all "polynesian" blood line? In the least racist way possible I mean are they all monsters built for football like the Samoans/Polynesians we see in the NFL?

Well they have made it to a Sugar Bowl, but that didn't turn out too well for them

Do you mean the Mainland? Hawaii and American Samoa are the United States.
