I stopped going to the one in Henderson because the food quality was decreasing and the prices were increasing. The one in BR has the same problem: small portions of less-than-mediocre food at outlandish prices. At least at the original you can sit on the water, or go to the dance hall or to one of the bars/landings on the river afterwards.

I still like the crawfish bisque in Henderson and I'll stop there to buy it if I'm in the area. They sell it frozen. So does Don's in Lafayette. It's getting harder to find the Cajun version with stuffed heads or boulettes.

No, got the lunch platter, which is a "1/2" seafood platter. 2 fried shrimp, 1 fried catfish filet, 1 stuffed shrimp, and 1 stuffed crab.. Was fairly cheap $13 compared to the regular menu.. Still $13 too much.. Thankfully I didn't pay for it, but felt bad for recommending it to the vendor that took me there..

Not bad at all. I walked in at 12:30 and there were plenty of empty tables. Guess that was a sign..

I went there last night, even after reading this thread, because my sister in law wanted to try it out.

I got the broiled catfish with asparagus. It was one catfish filet... maybe 6-8 oz and it looked to be seasoned with only Tony's or some other Cajun seasoning. The asparagus was, I shite you not, 3 pieces of asapragus... THREE. The catfish was $16.95 and they put a $3 UPCHARGE because I got asparagus instead of a stuffed potato. That means I paid $1 extra per piece of asparagus on top of whatever price they already worked into the meal for the potato. I'm not a cheap arse or anything but I was really disappointed. $19.95 for one catfish filet and 3 pieces of asparagus.

Parking lot looked full, but once we got in there were multiple empty tables. We were sat immediately in the side section. Didn't see the bar area.

It sounds resoundingly like this joint is gonna fail, and I liked his father's fare in Henderson back-in-the-day. I remember the portions there being plentiful.

But, all reviews here to date, suggest crappy food, major aloof pride and/or f@ck-you-price-per-portion attitude. I'm gonna give them a try this next week.

I'm sorry that Jude and Barry next door have overheads, debts, and renovation costs, but that's not the consumer's problem!

People in this corridor may have disposable income, but they also can cook, and know good food. If you serve mediocrity(WF salad bar, Chinese takee-outtee or burger fare aside), and/or at far too proud a price per portion. You're gonna bleed out cash longhaul & fail!

Mansur's a mile away, Beausoleil half a mile to North, Parrain's a quick ride up I-10W, Stabiler's old bank joint coming soon, Drusilla's mediocrity around the corner,etc..all serving the same cajun fare and more.
