Though so far this year opponents are only shooting 34% from 2 point range which is incredible. The only teams in the top 150 they have played are Miss St and Ole Miss.... Both pretty pedestrian at best.

A bad loss is a 200+ RPI loss.
Both ODU and Clemson and trending to be top 200 teams.

Unfortunately that is about to start going down a bit even if LSU continues to win in the OOC schedule. LSU is about to start playing some really weak opponents. IIRC a lot of the formula is based upon the winning % of your opponents as well as the winning % of your opponents' opponents. The next 6 games are against some teams with avg. to poor records who have or will play other teams as the season goes on with poor rpi rankings.
Nevertheless, wins are still better than losses. Keep winning and everything else will take care of itself

I don't think ODU will be a bad loss come March. Clemson likely will. The ACC is still brutal

You act like it's some asinine stretch for someone to say they won't be bad losses. ODU just beat number 14 VCU and Clemson will finish with a decent RPI being the ACC is so strong (which will bring their RPI up). Then there is the fact that Clemson just beat a ranked Arkansas as well, so maybe they aren't as bad as people think. It's not like we lost to a sub 200 RPI team.

That's pretty arbitrary criteria. Neither of those teams are top 100.
It would be one thing if we had a bunch of decent teams on our schedule, but outside of WV, we play absolutely no one out of conference. And our conference is atrocious this season.

The dawgs just lost to Tulane, so we can all agree that win is no headliner for the committee...
However, beating Ole Miss at the sad pad is a huge curveball to me. Ole Miss has already beaten Oregon, Creighton, and Cincinatti. Nicely done, sweater vest.
I can't help but show a little disdain towards how apathetic he was at LSU. How do you not even fill out your OOC schedule or put together a full roster? Regardless of what I think, his recruiting ability should keep him in perpetual mediocrity

It's going to way down from that over the next couple weeks, we play some bad teams
RPI is worthless until you get at least 1/4 of the way through conference play.

Yes will drop in the RPI but if we keep winning we should continue to climb in the other polls.

Got to win the rest of the OOC games. After SHSU, everyone else have 200+ RPI

This...no Rhode Islands.
We were in position much of the year last year and we just didn't take care of business. Hopefully lesson learned and we win the games we should.

My worry is that last week was a bit of "fools gold". Both UMass and WVU played to LSU's strength, uptempo pace. They haven't played well against teams that want to slow the game down and play in the half-court (ODU, Clemson, TTU). LSU has a tendency to settle for jumpshots on offense and at times play absoutely zero defense in half cout sets. The team MUST improve in those areas of they want to win games throughout the season. Other than Ark., the won't play anyone as "fast" as UMass and WVU the rest of the way. Opponents are going to make them work on each possession.
They've got 5 games to improve before SEC play. If they start to become more efficient on both sides of the ball (moreso on offense) then things could look good in January.
