That's good , compared to non-hodgkins, or do I have it backward?

Obviously depends on what stage it is, but the 5 year survival rate is very high, and he is young, very healthy, and has access to the best healthcare possible.

Godspeed, Eric Berry

The 5 year survival rate for Stages 1-3 I think is like 90%.

You got it right. Non-Hodgkins is harder to treat and has a lower survival rate. Either way prayers to Eric and his family

it's not just a survival thing...Hodgkin's has a cure rate of 90-95% according to what the doctors told my wife. This is fantastic news for the Berry family as there's a very strong chance (if treatment goes well) that he won't have to deal with cancer (this specific one anyway)after the next year depending on the staging etc.

Non-Hodgekin's on the other hand is something that will have to be dealt with for life.

Sucks to hear, Berry seems like a cool guy.

That story ESPN did on him, I think last year, about his fear of horses was awesome.

If he only has to do standard 6month ABVD chemo for it he should be back at the start of the season next year. Hope that's the case.

Friend of mine is a 20 yr. survivor. However, the chemo and radiation effects are catching up to him now.

Depends on the treatment and how he reacts to it, but he could potentially be back for the start of season next year.

There has been tremendous medical progress for Hodgkin's Disease in the last 30 years. I think Berry can beat this. My Uncle got the illness in the early 1970s and the technology wasn't there unfortunately to combat it.

Keep fighting Berry!
