Question about Raccoons and other similar animals

I'm hearing sounds in my attic(or on the roof) that resemble the following:
Human-esque footsteps
Thumping/Banging
Scurrying
I think it's a raccoon or possibly a possum but I'm not 100% certain.
The sounds happen at night/early morning mostly.

It could be a raccoon, opossum or squirrel. One of those have a heart traps with cat food would catch a coon or opossum pretty quick.

Could be a squirrel. They're louder than you think when they get in an attic. A raccoon got in one of the rooms on the 2nd floor of my grandma's house and wrecked that room. That was very loud, little bastard messed up the walls and furniture, it looked and sounded like a bull was up there. If you're just hearing scurrying, I would guess a squirrel. Buy a couple of those have a heart traps, bait 1 with canned cat food as mentioned above, and the other with some pecans.

Yeah, because they don't creep around like a mouse or a cat even, they hop.

I swear we had squirrel cage matches in a house I lived in on Brightside. One day, one of them lost and fell into the wall behind the kitchen cabinets. fricker rotted in there for almost 2 months, and the smell was so bad, you could smell it walking up to the house

Homeless person waiting for you to leave before coming down.

Parents had flying squirrels in their attic. They had to cut down the oak tree close to the house to get rid of the problem. They were accessing the house from the tree.

Have a heart trap baited with fried won tons from a Chinese Joint is irresistible to a racoon.

I think you have a family of squirrels in your attic.

raccoon
I had a momma get in my wall by the guest bathroom and had babies... I had to call a rodent removal company and get holes chopped in the wall to remove them. Momma was gone during the day when we removed 5 little babies.
Boy was that momma pissed when she returned that night after eliminating the place where she would enter\leave

Squirrels sounds like, we have them in our attic in the fall and on the roof. Sounds like an army marching around up there. Cut all the tree limbs away from the roof.

Squirrels love peanut butter, too. Makes a great bait for those live traps, especially in the attic. Been there, done that.

I thought i heard similar problems as well above my bathroom. Turned out it was limbs from the tree brushing against the roof when the wind blew.

I had squirrels in the attic a couple years ago. They avoided the traps like the plague. The epic battle that ensued between me and those squirrels would rival that of Bill Murray and the gophers in Caddyshack. When the babies eventually came out, I picked them off like fish in a barrel. But the parents - those frickers were SMART.
