Father-in-law got a banded woodie this morning. I've still never gotten one.

Not a duck, but a buddy shot a speck last week that was banded in Barrow, Alaska. That's about as far north as you can get.

Old coworker of mine shot a banded mallard in Ferriday last week. I'll post the pic if I can crop out the face.

I seen some city boys with necklaces made out of bands, so I guess a lot were killed.

I have killed three banded ducks in my lifetime and my longtime hunting buddy has five bands. But it has probably been 15 years since once of us got another one.

I have not seen a banded duck since 1997.

Prior to then they were almost common.

Killed a banded teal a few years back. Only one I've killed.

If you see a lanyard full of bands then they are fake.

I've been a major part of an effort that has banded close to 2000 "birds" over the past 3 years. The closest I've got is cutting the bands off of a deceased juvenile brown pelican.

To be fair, I make it a point to never hunt in the areas that I band in or that I know banding has taken place.

Maybe one day.
