Anyone catch the article of Galette saying we don't miss any of those old guys?

Vilma and Smith have called him out on Twitter. On mobile so hard to gather all tweets

Lol just spent 5 minutes gathering all that shite to post it I'll just leave it here:

It started with this interview from Galette:
quote:

"I mean, c'mon, who are you talking about?" He asked, laughing. "The guys that replaced them are better than they were."

Galette, of course, was talking about departed veterans like Will Smith, Roman Harper, Malcolm Jenkins and Jonathan Vilma.

"Here, the guys that replaced them are better than the guys we had. It's not even close. Across the board," Galette said. "I'll take Kenny Vaccaro any day over any safety. And I'll take (Cam Jordan) over any defensive end. Jairus Byrd over any safety."

Vilma and Smith were the only names he mentioned specifically.

"Lofton is putting up numbers Vilma never put up. So. It is what it is," Galette said.

"I feel like, you know, he's (Will Smith) never been a better player than me, regardless from whatever stage he was at. Or Cam."

J Vilma was a warrior who gave everything he had to the Saints; will smith was a very good player for a long time. No need for such pettiness.

I would take Vilma in his prime over any Saint LB now.

F Shanle.

Will Smith from 04-09 was pretty solid...then he got fat and it distorts my memory of how good he was...I think I would take Cam over him...not sure about JR.

x 100. Would've been really easy to praise his current teammates without shitting on old ones.

I mean he's right about everybody but Vilma. I'm just glad he's standing up for his teammates. Our former players need to stop being sensitive.

This is just exceptionally false and even Kenny Vaccaro says so. I understand he's probably sick of being asked about departed players but just really dumb to pick that fight for no reason.

It's out of line. There's no reason to even bring them up. They won a Super Bowl here, they are part of Saints football history. I wish we still had a leader like Vilma. Maybe they'll end up winning a Super Bowl, at least we all hope, but there's no need to even discuss this shite. Say that you believe in the team and that the Saints have the leadership to win it all. That's all that needs to be said.

Yes I suppose he's being honest.

And being a young buck who has the world by the tail.

But he will be one of those "old guys" sooner than he thinks.

Nothing good ever happens on twitter NFL players. Nothing.

PS

Junior if you ask nicely maybe they will show you their championship rings. Probably not.

Other than Keenan, there isn't a current player on the Saints D that could hold Vilma's jock strap.

"Junyah" just needs to shut up.

Kennan, Cam and Byrd (despite what happened this season, he is all-pro talent)

Certainly miss the Vilma's leadership and smarts though.

So if its not the players then it must be RR who is to blame for one of the worst Defenses in the League right now?

Really completely uncalled for by JG. How does he think it's ok to talk shite about retired players that have had more success than he has and when the defense is having the season they are having?
