Need a little help with the Ridgeland, MS scene

I know this isn't on many folks radar, but I will be staying up there Friday night with the wife and kids.
Can someone give me a few good places to eat with the family not named Applebees or Chilis.
Doesn't need to be fancy or anything.
And if I get a chance to go off for a drink, what would be a good bar to sit and chill for an hour or so with good beer.

Elys, Ruth's Chris, seafood revolution (folse restaurant recently opened and I haven't been yet), shapleys, local 463 all top notch places for food in the ridgeland/Madison area
I'd take a trip to fondren at hit up saltine, babalu, pig&pint
Parlor Market downtown is worth the trip too
Saltine is the best place to chill at bar and drink good beer. Local 463 would be an option as well. Mint is ok for bar but I wouldn't eat there.

Tico's Steakhouse
Babalu
Walker's Drive-In
Lots of cheap Mexican places that are family friendly, the best of which is probably Papito's in Madison

Soulshine Pizza. Lots of choices and they do an 8" pizza so everyone can get their own. Might even have some live music being played. I recommend The Boudreaux.

Good list.
Seafood R'evolution was excellent. Me and the lady went there this weekend and was quite pleased. Pretty good bar set up with good number of cocktails and had oyster bar. The main area is nice and open. Staff was well trained and John Folse was walking around talking with everyone. Charbroiled oysters were excellent and I got the flounder dish and my lady got the salmon. Bit pricey, but worth it.

Good to hear beard
I ran in there mid afternoon as they were about to open to check out their beer selection. I told Folse I was glad he had death by gumbo on the menu. He said there'd be a mutiny if he didn't.
As far as Mexican the best place is Taqueria La Guadalupe in Madison. Sombra is a good Tex-Mex option

Can't really go wrong with anything Coater said. Best restaurant I've been to so far is Parlor Market. But I don't think it is what you're looking for if you have kids in tow. If I were you I'd eat at Saltine. Hits all the check marks. You could also walk right next door to Babalu and check that out as well and see which vibe you like better.
If you want to stick to Ridgeland area I'd hit Local 463. Prices aren't inflated but still feels more upscale, excellent food, and I've seen families with kids in there before.
Amerigo and Soulshine are more in the Applebees or Chilis vein.

Had apps that were pork belly and some kind of fried shrimp dish.
The beef short ribs were great.
I don't eat dessert often but the table raved about the cobbler.
Also, the wine list was well received by those at our table that are wine folks.
Not a very descriptive review, but I will go back in a couple weeks when I am there again.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I will take the time to look into some of these places, but right now the Mexican places seem like they might work the best.

Probably my favorite dish there. Really killer. Love their breadless crab cake app too.

I'm with you, I'm not big on sweets. But one time we went and the table ordered the peach cobbler. It was decent .. a little soupy I thought.

Yep they do really solid by the class at a good price. Their zinfandel selection is always my go-to.

Check out Cilantro. It's a Mexican joint up in Canton right on the square and the wife and kids could check out the huge Christmas light / decoration display.
