Not that it matters, but I assumed the aluminum F150 was a sure thing

quote:

The Ford F-150 didn't win because, although its all-aluminum construction is revolutionary, that didn't translate to improvements that customers would notice, Loh said. The truck is quicker and gets slightly better fuel economy than other trucks, he said, but the gains aren't huge.

The new Chevrolet Colorado is much better than its Asian competitors, too, Loh said. It has sharp-looking design, inside and out, in a market segment where design really matters. Trucks this size are "lifestyle" vehicles rather than pure work trucks, Loh said, so buyers want something that looks good and up-to-date.

Welp, Chevy was willing to pay more. Seriously, Motor Trend is as bad as the Grammys.

Will be in the running for it next year as well when the Colorado will be offered with a Duramax Diesel option...

I saw a new GMC canyon a few days ago. Sharp looking little truck for sure.

Ford should be offering the Ranger with the diesel option that they sell in Australia. Not sure why the domestics ignored the mid-sized truck market for so long.

If this "award" is indicative of the reality of the truck, it will be the first non-POS mid-sized domestic truck.

Saw one as well..they seem to be about the same size as early 90's model fullsize trucks. Haven't sat in one to see what the inside feels like but they have a nice stance.

Been looking for a new truck similar to the Tacoma and I like the hell out of the Canyon. Thanks for the heads up.

prices on mid sized trucks are too close to full size truck levels IMO

and with the diesel options, I don't think we can get near the economy hear as they can elsewhere, due to emissions restrictions

it takes a lot of the value away from owning these trucks

Motor Trend reviews new cars. They don't have to keep them for ten years like most working people.

There isn't much of a difference between the full and mid size trucks in price and mpg for me to convert yet

Damn.

What's the stripped out single cab go far?

No way I would buy one over a Tacoma if I was in the market.
