Among other things. Might be a way to bring the privates and publics back together.

Privates should break away from LHSAA.

I REALLY see the privates breaking away within the next 5 years.

LHSAA is a big cluster now

I've always thought there should be a 6a. That's where the big boys go, if you want to be THE state champion you play 6a

Will they have 8 man for all the NLA schools that are in the MPSA (or whatever they call it now)?

The private schools may break away but I think it would be a mistake, Outside of the Catholic league in NO, there is not a lot of private schools who can play each other. I would assume if they break from LHSAA, the public schools would not be happy and they would not be willing to fill a schedule for the private schools.

Hurts the publics more than the privates.

In New Orleans you are probably correct but no place else around the state.
If the publics refuse to schedule private schools, Catholic has only 3 possible private schools they could play in the BR area and none of those schools are the same size. That would leave Catholic to schedule 7 games 3 to 4 away games that are an hour plus ride from BR, Lafayette area is the same and Evangel would have a worse time. One long travel game is ok, but multiple becomes very expensive.

6A? In my estimation even 5A is pushing it. With unified playoffs in football, 32 is a good number, but now we have 32 non-selects and 12 selects in Division I. Now ADDING a division?

Could you imagine non select baseball outside of 5A?

6A?
Wrong direction.
5A should be eliminated.

We'll know there are too many championships when the Owls have a chance to win one ;-)

In all seriousness great ideas... Looks like principals are reading these threads.

Lets hope certain hardliners dont block progress on at least reuniting 5a. Thats good enough for me

Bad idea. Schools on the 'borderline' will sandbag.

Plus, you still get into the issue of attendance zones.

Most publics have to adhere to & are limited to strict attendance zones while the privates can pull kids from anywhere in the state.
Privates can even pull kids from across state lines.

Last rule change opened up public school attendance zones to parish wide

If something isn't resolved....this could be the last super dome classic

So how can Byrd pull from the Parish, but Parkway has to forfeit for an ineligible player who lived in the Parish?
