Saying "I love you" to your kids

1. Is this an expectation of parenting?
2. Do any of the best parents you know not say it?
I personally think it should definitely be said. People who don't or can't say it to their kids have problems in my opinion. When parents can't hug express their love to their kids, I think that is a detriment to those kids down the road. I can't imagine not telling my own kids (who I don't have yet) that I love them.

Absolutely it should be said.

Should be said every day.

It should be said if you want to raise pussies!

I don't have kids, but that's something you tell your kids every chance you get.

Absolutely. How is this even a question? My parents told us all the time that they loved us and they still do.

Yes. IMO,a child should be made to feel like he or she is your most treasured possession.

I always say it. Heck, I kiss my son all the time. Those cheeks, breh.

Honestly, my dad never says it, and my mom rarely does. Kind of blew up on him about it this weekend because he was an arse during a good family moment (brought on my my awesome uncle). We argued about it later, and I ended up bringing up that he never told any of his kids that he loves us. He blames being raised by a military dad who never said it. But seeing as I totally will say it (and my parents suck at it), I'm not buying that shitty excuse.

I must say it at least 10-15 times a day.

Yes, but infrequently and usually only after a good beating or possibly a round of verbal abuse.

I wish I had said it more to my grandmother who passed

It is absolutely important to express this to our kids. I didn't get much of it growing up, so I make sure to hug and say "I love you" in abundance.

Not only do I say it everyday, I also tell them I'm proud of them. It's the smile they give in return that makes my day.

Tell my kids that I love them all day long, because I do!

I'm a grown assed man and my dad and I still close every phone call or time together with an I Love You / I Love You Too

Every day. I always tell my son. The expression on his face and him running to hug me when I get home every day, could not imagine not saying it.

I would hope so
My grandfather was a pretty stern guy and virtually never told his kids that. It did a number on them.
