Progress or Fool's Gold?

Great win over the Ags. Cam had the right plan for his QB's talent and the Ags defense. Aside from it getting way too close in the 4th QTR, it was beautiful. If this is indicative of what Cam can learn to do with Jennings, then perhaps there can be some growth. Perhaps Jennings is turning the corner?

Or

Fool's goal. The Ags weaknesses matched our strengths exactly perfectly. They sucked at run D which is our strength. They excelled at passing, and pass protection is our strength. As soon as we play a real SEC Contending team, this fool's gold will only further the delusion that Jennings can mature?

So, Rant....take a position. No "some of both".

Do you say Progress, or do you say Fool's Gold?

Progress

It's just called not being 1-dimensional. Glad it took Miles 12 games to realize that..

Exhibit A as to why it's damn near impossible to have constructive conversation on here.

Fool's gold. We knew we could run the ball on them and they knew we could run the ball on them. That rush defense was BAD. Their best defensive lineman is terrible in the run game. LSU is not going to struggle against those types of teams. It's the teams that are able to stop the run that LSU is going to struggle with.

If LSU passes to mix things up every once in a while to keep the D off balance then we are fine. If LSU has to pass because they are down big or are not effective running the ball then the offense goes to shite. Our offense is still very one dimensional and is easily stopped by a halfway competent rush D.

Neither. It was about the future which suddenly had a major shift in the positive direction. Why you ask. Because the coaches finally came to the realization that the offense scheme needed to be retooled.

Actually some of both but mostly fools gold. You cant get the edge on good defenses.

But here is my question? WITF did it take so long to move Jennings around? This is how bama started the season with Sims (who is an average QB). Nm I know the answer, AJ is just really bad.

Both. Neither. It was just one game. This has been a hot and cold LSU year.

The problem is we've seen times before when the offense looked to have made strides and opened up only to disappear again the next week. So while the offense did look better who knows if its progress or just a one game thing.

Hell the second half of the wisconsin game looked a lot like what we saw last night and I remember everybody saying the shotgun zone read with 3 wides should be our base offense yet we've seen it very sparingly since then. So game 1 and game 12 we open the offense and in between well who knows what the hell we did.

I just think they watched the tape of the Auburn/A&M game and saw Garrett had big problems defending the zone read. Cam incorporated a whole new formation set too and ran multiple plays from it. The jet sweep was a nice wrinkle they added to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers Dural and Fournette.

Only playcall I didn't like was the audible to a slant to Dural against press coverage. The tempo could have been faster on a few occasions also. Aggies D was winded on several drives and they had the Qb draw on 3rd and 7 before the timeout was called. No matter how you slice it, 500 yds is a good game. Hope they improve their screen game during preparations for the Bowl game.

Fool's gold. Jennings is still way, way, way below average. So far as I can see, he has done nothing this year that indicates he has improved to the point of providing the productivity that the position must have IF LSU is going to compete in the West. No knock on him, but he just cannot cut it. If Miles stays with him then the fan base on a money level would do well to demand an explanation why that is so and some tangible evidence that he is doing something about it.

Fools gold. Check the stats. Almost every running back we played had a recorder game and their offense had record numbers. I could have run through those holes at 55.

Fool's gold IMO. That aggie D is probably the worst unit in the SEC
