Commonly known as Star Wars, Empire and Jedi. Just watch those three.
FORGET ABOUT THE REST OF THAT shite.

Do not skip 1. Qui-gon Jinn is one of the best characters in Star Wars, played by Liam Neeson.
Seriously, though...
No.

A lot of shitty advice in this thread. I'm a SW nerd, but:
Original Trilogy only.
Only watch the prequels afterwards if you REALLY want to.
But please, for the love of god, do NOT start with the prequels. I beg you.

Oh, for the love of Shmi Skywalker, they are only fricking movies. Let the OP decide if he likes them. I suggest watching in production order: IV, V, VI, I, II, III.
That being said, they will not remotely affect the OP the way they affected me ( I watched them all first run at the theaters, starting in 1977 with Star Wars), or many of the posters here. The only ground breaking movie was the original, and Empire was the best overall. Other than that, let the poor bastard watch the movies. If he doesn't like them, he'll turn them off.
Jeez.
(and I thought Attack of the Clones was awesome--the "gladiator" scene was great: "Around the survivors, a perimeter create." Great line).

This X 100. Watch episodes IV, V, and VI. And then if curiosity gets the better of you, then watch I, II, & III with a huge grain of salt.

Watch the original trilogy (IV, V, VI), then watch the Red Letter Media explanations of the newer trilogy instead of the newer trilogy itself (unless you've got a lot of free time). You'll get more entertainment value.

The prequels would have ruined me for SW. Watch at your own risk, but enjoy the originals first.

What are the expectations for the sequel trilogy that starts next year?
Posted on 11/28/14 at 8:21 pm to Marciano1
I expect them to suck but not be quite as stupid as the prequels.
Posted on 11/28/14 at 8:23 pm to Marciano1
Honestly I'm pretty fired up about it. Just keeping my expectations low. Hayden Christensen ruined I-III for me with his whining and sniveling.

If you have never seen them, just do 1-6.
Good God no.
Just go with the order released.
Do 4, 5, 6
and then leave a 16 year gap before watching 1, 2, 3.
Longer would be even better.

One takeaway from A New Hope is that stormtroopers can't shoot worth a fuuuuuck. I thought they were supposed to be elite fighters. They're like 0 for 10,000. At least all the good guys lived.
Empire Strikes Back tonight.

You're about 30+ years too late for these films.

I take it for what it is. Still enjoyed the movie, just having fun with it.

Empire is definitely the best. As I grew older I appreciated it more. You can tell that Lucas sold out on Jedi. I would watch 4-6, then 1-3.

Attack of the Clones is total garbage
Yeah, part 2 is a far worse film than #1.
Watch the original trilogy. If you like it, watch the prequels, but go in with low expectations. Attack of the Clones is one of the worst big budget movies of all time. Just a horrible experience. The Phantom Menace at least has Darth Maul and Liam Neeson. And I'm one of the few people barely annoyed by Jar Jar. He's certainly no worse than the Ewoks.
At the end of the day, every later release builds of knowledge of a prior release. There's no reason to mix up release order.

I would do the newer ones first just to have something better to look forward to and do it in the order it's intended to be
