Im not a cop because I haven't gun down a innocent 12 year old or shot a dog. I'm also not a cop because I can think critically about a situation and if I happen to frick up I can take responsibility for it instead of hiding behind protocol. I know what job a cop is suppose to perform, the every day cop has a very easy job.
now answer my question on if a cop has ever done anything wrong in your eyes?

Should they have let him shoot first to confirm that is/isn't a gun
Yes.
When in doubt, don't shoot. You can't put bullets back in the chamber.
But I guess they don't teach that anymore. Too busy chanting "Better 12 than six."

It's hard to defend what happened there. The cops totally fricked that whole situation up by driving right up in the park to the kid. Who the frick does that if you think he has a gun? It looks, IMO, like they were trying to be hard asses, and they ended up killing a kid with a toy.

Ok, justice was clearly delivered in Ferguson but this killing was completely unnecessary. How about parking at a distance and giving the kid a fair warning?
Didn't the cop tell him 3 times to put his hands up and then he still "reached" for the bb gun.

If you think what we do is "easy" then you have no clue about what a police officer really does.

I wouldn't pull up that close to a man with a gun call for sure. That was a tactical mistake for sure.

You keyboard tough guys crack me up. I love to read all of the tough talk on this board along with threats against police officers when in reality almost none of you have ever seen combat or ever been a cop. It's easy to armchair qb others when you have no idea what the job is that they do.
Eat donuts and shoot kids and dogs. Seems pretty simple

A tactical mistake that lead the death of a 12 year old. Herein lies why neither of them should be cops.

The ones in my neighborhood park on the side of the road and play on their cellphones -- occasionally writing someone a ticket for going 34 in a 30.

He must have been talking really fast.

That is not the reason the kid is dead, and I am not making a judgment either way yet. If they pulled up 20 foot away and the kid pointed the gun at them he would still be dead.
Whether the officers were right or wrong will be determined in the days to come, but I do know that if I had done this I would feel terrible even if it was justified. I love kids and this would tear me up.

Did he ever even actually point the fake gun at them?

No I RA'd for personal attack.

I assumed your question was meant to be sarcastic. Of course cops have done things wrong in the past and will continue to make mistakes as long as they exist. No group is perfect.

I honestly don't know, but you don't have to wait for that. If he started pointing it towards the officers then they are justified.
