I'd highly recommend doing squats/deadlifts twice a week together and the rest of your upper body MWF.

I used to do squats/deadlifts 3x a week like the SL program says but it was too much. I've started back at 2x a week and it's awesome. Obviously I won't see gains as quickly, but it's so much easier on the joints.

hard work in squat rack and mirror curls.

Pro tip: If you bring 3-4 dumbbell sets over to the squat rack for curls, you are allowed to leave them there when you finish. The gym understands that you are too tired to put them back.

I like the SL program and the app makes it so darn easy. I have to do cardio so I'm getting off the program now but have no idea what I want to do.

I've just been using the stronglifts format two days a week with cardio on weekends. Gains each workout have been just as steady as 3 days a week, and honestly my legs feel better.

If you want you could also rotate your exercises for deadlifting. Meaning you are only dead lifting once a month and the other three weeks you are alternating a pulling exercise each week. So one week you could do high pulls. The next week good morning, then power cleans, then deadlifts.

Are you only working out twice a week with no cardio during the week? Do you mind breaking down the schedule and are you following the routine or varying it?

Tuesday I do workout A, and Thursday I do workout B. Saturday and or Sunday I try and take long bike rides. I'm not doing a crazy amount of cardio right now, but I could easily do more if I had time.

The big reason I started doing it this way is because I can hit the gym on my lunch break those days. My wife really hated my evening workout routine.

Thanks. I'm glad I decided to compromise and do it that way.

Not as much as I used to. It's really a time commitment issue. Also I don't live in a neighborhood with sidewalks. It isn't well lit and my wife biches if I try to run now that it gets dark so early. Cardio, for now, is reserved for the weekends.
