Monroe OTers: Did Neville HS ever have a live tiger mascot?

The reason I ask is a Neville cheerleader from back in the day (no pics) claimed they did. This would have been around the early to mid nineties. I suspect BS, but I will defer to the oracle of the OT for confirmation.

Not in the 90s, no they didnt. I've never heard of Neville having a Tiger. Had friends go there, buddy's mom taught there, etc.

Yes. His name was Shasta and he was housed at Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo but they brought him to games with the cheerleaders on top throwing footballs at halftime.

Yes, his name was Shasta and he was kept at the zoo. I think Neville was responsible for the cost of his upkeep there. He was brought to Neville for games and pep rallies.

This. Neville grad here. He was in a pull behind cage hooked to a truck that they did in fact put the cheerleaders on top of and would toss footballs from. He was known to pizz on you if you got to close.

Yeah but it was a bit before the '90's when they stopped bringing. He took a swipe at a cheerleader and that ended it.
