Out of no where, my father (doesnt hunt) hands me (doesnt hunt anymore) a gun in a sock. It is a Benelli Nova field 12ga 26" barrel... black synth stock. My father said he acquired it a while back from a client but it's NIB and never been fired. My father is weird about gifting... it's unspoken that I'll be keeping this gun for a while. I've never owned a pump shotgun so this might be a fun skeet shooter. Is this gun any good?

very good gun. will eat any shell you put in it. Can take a beating and keep shooting. Can drop in water and mudd and it will keep
firing. I have a couple nova 12s and a 20... congrats

agree with all with exception of mud. I had mine full of mud in SD this year after falling and shot another half box of shells before it locked down and would not fire any longer. firing pin would not slide forward.

ETA: broke it down, cleaned and oiled and hunted that afternoon with same gun.

I unloaded, checked to make sure the barrel was not plugged and held the chamber open and moved it back and forth under the water a few times before resuming shooting.

I love mine. I bought mine used for $200. It lives on the back floorboard of my truck. It gets out of the truck, kills stuff in whatever weather conditions and with whatever load/choke combo I need, and goes back behind the seat. Sometimes I wipe the blood and feathers/hair off. Most times I don't.

I had one and did not like it at all. As a matter of fact, someone gave me one. I took it hunting once and have it back. I just didn't like the looseness of the pump or the feel of the gun. I have an 870, A5, and BPS. I'll stick to one of those.

Just my .02

They look good, are durable, and reliable as well! I have enjoyed mine for birds and clays.
