Any thing I should be looking for with it being used? This will be my first used gun purchase. We have agreed on 350 it comes with a full and modified choke barrel

Hunter or Stalker model?
3" or 3 1/2"?
26" or 28" barrel?

Unless he used it as a boat paddle in the marsh, he couldn't hurt the BPS in any shape, form, or fashion.

This. If no rust you should be fine.

Wood stock and blues barrel is the hunter model.

Does it come in 3" or 3 1/2" chamber? How old is the gun?

I have the BPS, good gun that has lasted 25 years and still going strong.
I never found a barrel with choke tubes for it so it wears the modified barrel.

You can buy a brand new 12 GA BPS Hunter in 3" for around $550. They hold great resale value, however.

If the $350 range is your budget, you can buy a brand new 870 Synthetic in 3 1/2" for this price.

Just food for thought.

Pretty good price.

Here's one in good shape for the same price but you'd have to ship and pay FFL. But should give you a point of reference for condition and such

It really depends on your use of it. If you are going to have it in the marshes or elements a lot, you may want the composite stock instead of the wood. I don't think the age makes a difference if it's in good shape

If it's from 1981 does it have two barrel? I don't think there were choke tubes back then.

^ not even close to the same quality. BPS is in another class compared to the express.

$350 is not a bad price for a BPS provided you only need the full and mod barrels. If you could find one with invector or invector plus barrels, that would be a little more useful since you could have more choke choices.

I have an 870 wingmaster and a BPS, and the BPS is MUCH smoother pump action. I like the bottom eject as well.

I'd buy it if I were you. Especially if it comes with 2 barrels.
