SE a lot of those snow birds(northerners) own homes in south Florida. Go to a Tampa bay Rays home game against Yankees or Red Sox almost 75% of fans are not fans of the rays. Lots of old folks and richer young folks down there right now especially after that blizzard they just had.

Lived in estero for a year and have family in Naples, 75 isn't bad in that area. Like someone else said, 41 is what you want to avoid. Naples is good living, everything nice and clean. Estero is a lot younger, with fgcu there and a lot of young professionals with all the companies popping up in that area.

Not weird at all. Snowbirds. People in cold areas have homes in warmer areas to escape the cold winters. Tons of snowbirds here in Phoenix/Scottsdale area as well. Traffic always busier in the winter months because of that.

Weird is this...

Panhandle hotels on beach cheaper in winter

Most of the rest of FL, hotels on beach cheaper in summer

Not really weird that. It gets colder in the winter months in the panhandle than say...Miami. So makes sense.

I was in Sarasota yesterday on business. You could do worse the the Gulf Coast of Florida; you'll be fine.

Get back to us in July and August, although you might get some relief from being on the Gulf, and the daily thunderstorms at least give the illusion of coolness. As I say, a Florida summer is like a Michigan winter: you just hunker down and endure it.

Good luck.

Not weird at all. The Panhandle is known as the trashier part of Florida.

Summers in Sarasota are milder than summers in Louisiana. It's not even close.
