My observations and experiences:

I feel young
I am banking good money and I am poor
Living in a hotel for weeks isn't as bad as I thought it would be
There is no consistency with drivers:
A - They are old
B - They come from everywhere so driving style is different. I got hit last weekend, guy slammed on his brakes and girl behind him smashed into him, so he hit me. I was in a rental, so all good. When the wife of the old man showed up, she immediately went over to the cop (didn't check on her husband) and then came over and tried to take charge. These NE broads are something else. I brought girl in the Mustang, who hit the man behind me, to a hotel with her drunk...whatever he was. They put their stuff in my trunk (my car was fine, the other 2 were destroyed). When we got to the hotel he takes an opened beer out of my trunk and a semi-automatic rifle. He wanted to buy me dinner for my troubles. I said I had to be going.
My car insurance is going down $100/month
No state income tax
No road that actually follows the beach - weird
It is busier here in the winter than the summer - also weird
Lots of chain restaurants
There are no minorities (I grew up in North Baton Rouge)
I get carded because everyone else is so old
I work with actual professionals
It is 70 degrees everyday
Sports bars don't have every TV on LSU and people wear colors I can't understand (Orange and Blue, really?!)

All in all, I relocated to a vacation city, so, I really can't complain. It will be an adventure.

And..GEAUX TIGERS!!

Naples is quite possibly the hottest place on earth in August.

Get your fishing license. You have some amazing inshore fishing down there.

Welcome to the Sunshine State.

Liz welcome

Just got back from Ft. Lauderdale last weekend and going to Boca Roton in two weeks. Your description is pretty accurate.

I got a 3 br condo. Which is ridic because it is just me. But this is the busy season, and lots of places won't allot pets. With 2 roommates rent wouldn't be bad ($1400) but I can afford it and it is close to work, so whatever. I move in 12/1. It is in N. Naples, which is supposed to be "nice".

Also, car got shipped/arrived today. 2011 Camaro. Showed up with a check engine light. Light has never been on before. Something else to deal with.

Aside from the car wreck, everything else sounds fine.

Good for you to take on a professional and personal adventure, particularly since you're young. Working and living in different places over time is a positive. You will learn a lot - you'll learn what you don't like, which is sometimes more important than never straying from what you do like.

Good luck.

If you relocated why are you in a hotel? What kind of work?

I have quite a few Italian friends there as well as a bunch of Jewish friends. It's an extremely wealthy area and a very nice place.

You know, when I picked that avy, I actually meant for it to be in the negative light. Meaning, the Fairytale is over.

that's cool. Sounds like a good place.

Nothing like trying to find a good place to take your car in a new town.

Hey Martini - I don't move in to my condo until 12/1. I am the manager of indirect taxes - sales, use & property tax. The company is moving its global headquarters from NJ to here. My team is still up there, so I am kind of a free spirit, work wise. Although, in two, I have worked harder than I did in a year at my LA job!

ETA: Noticed alot of Italian places.
