The supporting actors are what kept this series going.

The leads are...eh. The supporting are established, good actors.

How was it?

It was better than I thought it would be. The first half of the book was so slow, I wasn't sure how it would translate to a movie.

My issue with it is they left some stuff out that paints the full picture of what 13 is really like. Without reading the book, you're missing a lot of info about the people of 13. It will be interesting to see how they tie it all together in the last movie.

Should I make this a spoiler thread? It's kind of hard to talk about things they added that weren't in the book without spoiling what they are. None of it was major a deviation from the book, just stuff that wasn't explained.

ETA: As for the acting, it wasn't any different than in any of the other movies. So if you went to it expecting something different, I don't know what to tell you. This series definitely wasn't made to win any Academy Awards, that's for sure.

Yeah, I worded that incorrectly. Basically what I should have said is that the supporting cast has outdone the leads in these movies.

I'd rather wait until Part 2 comes out to see both at the same time.

However, the wife really wants to see it.

Same boat.

Just got back. Why did I go see this movie you ask. Well, I made my wife go see Nightcrawler, Interstellar, and Dumb and Dumber To (I'll never hear the end of that one) so it's time for me to pay my dues.

So my major complaint about the first two movies was that I felt like you had to be a book reader to like them. I felt like the whole Peeta vs Gale war, the mocking jay, really the main culture of the stories had to be read to fully understand and appreciated them. I just didn't get them. I didn't buy into the characters so therefor I hated the first two movies.

With that being said, I thought this movie was decent. I actually thought it started out with some legitimate promise. I felt like the story was slow evolving, but in a good way. I feel like we got more time to fully understand the culture of the story.

The last part of the movie however, I felt like they went back to their old ways. Without giving spoilers, I will just say that some of the things that happened were just not well explained. Also JL was doing some serious overacting that annoyed the shite out of me. Overall though, I think it was a decent movie. I always thought Peeta was a douche and he was barely in it, so maybe that helped.

ala Twilight. The movie is made for tweens, girls and dweebs who live in fantasy world.

I am far from a Hunger Games fan, but comparing the series to Twilight is ridiculous.

I thought Part 1 ended up better than the first two movies and I'd rather Katniss have ended up choosing Gale

Based on a series of books that are geared toward the youth crowd and confirmed through hords of youth at the premier. I would say that's pretty spot on. The stories resonate with the youth audience. Older adults will have a harder time buying this story like myself.
Just because the target audience is teens, doesn't mean it's exactly the same as Twilight. Twilight is much more romantic and cheesy. This story is much more down to earth. There are no vampires or werewolves. It's just a post apocalyptic rebellion story. Are there soap opera elements, sure, but Twilight is a cheese fest.

This is one instance where I hope that they stray as far as possible from the book. That's the biguest pile of cap I've ever read.

Exactly. Hunger Games, while written towards the YA crowd, is a much more advanced narrative than Twilight. The themes and what the story is about actually do resonate with adults. Twilight's themes are made for 11-year old girls.

Haven't read the thread but I heard that they added things to the movie and improved upon the book. Any truth? I hated the book.

is there something wrong with Effie's real hair to where she won't be seen without a wig on?
