1. I carry a gun to protect myself and my family(not to stop armed robberies). This should be the reason why anyone would carry.

2. No one in a bank would ever know that I'm carrying, but if my bank (Chase) were to post a "no guns" sign, I'd schedule a meeting with a senior vice president of the bank and explain why I'm moving my deposits from their bank and closing my accounts (personal accounts and business accounts).

3. If my bank was really as happy as they seemed to be when I moved my business to their bank, they might be unhappy enough at my leaving to grant me permission to CC. If not, there are other banks in town.

This line of thinking doesn't make a lot of sense. Banks have guards. Taking a hostage is a tactical decision. If you let people carry concealed, how will the robbers know? They'll be surrounded.

statistics show that once you leave a bank as a hostage, you're probably not going to live.

What are statistics on armed people being taken hostage in the first place? I bet it would be pretty low.

What so many of you are forgetting is that this is about the principle of the matter. If you dont feel it's right to be able to CC inside of a bank, then where is it appropriate to CC at? The reasoning that many of you are stating, not promoting provocation to said robber, can be applied to nearly any scenario in a public setting. How is a bank different from a convenience store? How is a bank different from Tiger Stadium? You cannot in one breath say "the more guns in the room, the higher the risk of a shooting spree occuring" and in another, "I CC because I want to protect myself and more importantly my family in the event that we come face to face with a piece of shite intending to do harm." It's highly contradictory.

This is what anti-gunners were preaching when CC first began in Florida. "Blood will run in the streets as arguments turn to gunfire." Did this ever materialize? Not in the slightest and it still hasn't even gotten close. The CC population is the of the most law-abiding group in the country and that is a statistical fact.

Personally i think its pretty reasonable to want to avoid the whole people coming in with weapons policy.

The people who carry legally are not the people you have to worry about.

FYI - Ever notice how many crimes are committed in "no gun zones"?

I guess criminals don't care about that stuff, eh.

For the record, I won't bank with anyone who has a no gun policy.

I don't think I've ever quoted someone's entire post and agreed with it, but I agree entirely with all of this. I'd do the same thing, but, at this point it ain't necessary, cause the president knows I tote.

someone armed in a bank thinking they can stop "threat" puts too many lives at jeopardy. I don't think bank robbers go in there looking to shoot unprovoked.

I agree. As someone not carrying a gun in a hypothetical bank that allows guns, if I'm in there during a robbery I certainly don't want some jackass pulling his piece and starting a firefight around me when they could just as easily let it go without anyone getting shot.

this X1000. i own many guns and love shooting as much as the rest of you guys, but i have zero desire to engage in a shootout in a bank over money thats insured.

Ok, then what if the gun gets turned on you. Again, this is not about the money. I could give a rats arse about the banks insured money. That is not the point.

Exactly. It's very difficult to tell when a robber will decide to become a murderer. The only thing holding him back is his trigger finger.

a few things have already been brought up...

-bank robbers are there for the banks money and to exit quick, they aren't interested in engaging customers unprovoked
-bank policy is to let the robbery occur and solve the crime later, not deter it from happening in progress
-most bank robberies involve a note and a threat to a teller, there aren't many heat or point break style bank robberies and shootouts where a customer would be forced to defend oneself

customers carrying in a bank has more risk than reward

is what youre saying because that applies to any location, not just banks. You are essentially disagreeing with the root of CC if you believe this.

No, businesses have the right to do whatever they want on their own property, ban whatever they want, choose with whom they do business with, ect.

Most people think all bank robberies happen the same way they do on TV or in the movies.

I think people who want to carry everywhere live in fear and use the gun to hide that fear.

I think the crux of the argument is that becoming selective about where carry should be "allowed" goes against even the most basic beliefs about concealed carry. A person's attitude does not change when carrying, nor does the place matter. It is simply a tool for defense of self. That's it.

I think people afraid of those that carry are the irrational ones. Concealed carriers commit crime at an almost statistical 0.

you're absolutely right. the only time and place I need to carry is after midnight when I go to the hood and buy my drugs. after all, that's the only possible time I might run into anyone with "mischief", in their normally stable mind.
