Saban had way more talent on his team.
No, but he did have the Saban-trademarked well-drilled, well-disciplined, well-prepared players who could really bring the fight to whoever their opponent was, and stay for the whole game.

Freshmen year. I remember I was happier than a dog with 2 peters that LSU finally made it to a bowl after a drought during my high school years.

Rondell Mealey ran crazy and set records. Second Indy bowl was a rematch with Notre Dame and we cleaned their clock. Serious cold for both games, especially the Notre Dame game, snowed that day. The Tigers played just fine which is why I do not agree with any weather excuses for the play last weekend.

Gabe Northern was a beast. Handed it to me on the basketball court that year as well!

If Miles worse record is 7 to 8 wins in a loaded SEC west this year, tons of experience then it's pretty good that Miles was able to get to the wins they have. The comeback against Wisconsin who was running at will, the clutch Fla win, beating Ole Miss' best team in a decade and hanging tough with Bama. What more can you ask this year? Miles knows his personnel better than anyone and Harris went to Auburn and was not ready. Would Harris have beat Ole Miss or Bama? Probably not. Should he have played against Ark? No question. Would it have made a difference? We'll never know.
A win against Arkansas isn't really asking too much.

Putting 130 yards on Arkansas isn't asking for much, either

The talent has always been here in La. But no other coach besides NS has even come close to doing what Miles has since the late 50's. Miles recruited that talent and coached them. "The talent" didn't grow on a tree in Tiger Stadium for him to pick off a branch. He earned those wins.

Well that's fine but the foundation Saban set up for Miles was unreal He handed it all to the next coach that would follow him... Miles just happened to be the one... Has he done well with it... SURE... But RIGHT now..With Saban... This team would be in the playoff hunt..... Just sayin.........

Sorry but Saban made LSU what it is today just because of ALL the things he did off the field with the improvements that were needed... Saban set LSU to basically recruit itself... It wasn't like that UNTIL Saban arrived..... Miles has kept it going.... But Hate all you want... SABAN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Miles............

I agree, Saban was responsible for a lot of changes that were good for LSU, and certainly put Miles in a position to succeed when he came. And Miles did succeed in a big way. If Saban were here I feel absolutely that he would succeed in a big way as well. Possibly better than Miles.

As for other coaches, I am sure some would do well here. But I really don't think very many if any would win as many games as Miles does.
