I doubt it makes much of a difference. Just a slightly more aggressive fund.

Look at the history of both to see what kind of returns they're providing. I moved my money from a 2045 to a 2055 and YTD there's a difference of less than 1% between the 2.

I think you're confusing account with allocation. Deposit it in the same account, and then decide 2060 vs 2050.

Probably won't make much difference for only $1000, but it you want to continue to go that route in the future it wouldn't hurt to start IMO. Only other consideration would be getting enough money into one fund to qualify for admiral shares. (Lower fees)

It's doubtful the allocation has really started to shift at this stage of either of those funds.

The 2060 will shift later, so it's more aggressive in the future, but likely about the same right now.

This. You can put the $1000 in the 2060 target fund in the same Roth account.
