worst part, is now ASU has to add a womens program, because of the stupid title shite.

They should be able to draw talent from Cali and from Rust Belt.

There's nothing wrong with that IMO.

They don't have to have women's hockey, just another female varsity sport.

I think the average woman already has more opportunities because the equal sports rule - when in reality, I don't think there are that many great college varsity female athletes out there to fill the sports - and it's certainly not equal to the men's #s of good athletes wanting to play college sports.

So the average male athlete gets no shot for a scholie and playing in college - but the average female athlete gets the chance at free tuition and glory.

Guys get intramurals and the girl gets a Div 1 sport (even though it looks like watching intramurals)

1) Sports programs should survive on merit
2) Thinking you dont have enough womens sports is one thing. Thinking the proper amount of womens sports is whatever amount of mens sports you have is something completely different. There is a disconnect between the perceived issue and the fix.
3) Lets say ASU and the community is happy with the womens programs they have, but would now like to add mens hockey. What problem does that create for women that another program for which there is no demand would solve?

Nearly every individual sports program doesn't survive on merit, they require governmental funding.

LSU doesn't even have a hockey team that letters and it has an OT 8 hockey groupie. I can only imagine what Arizona State would offer

I can almost assuredly say this is false.

I can almost guarantee that there are many club women's programs that would love to have varsity status.

There is demand.

They will have an easy time recruiting Western Canada. Junior hockey players and those ASU coeds? They could recruit in their sleep.

Im no talking about demand for people to play. There are probably the necessary 25 women who want to play tackle football. I doubt there are more than 30 people who want to watch that.

So college athletics were created for people to watch?

This is also great news for Hockey USA. I hope you guys continue to develop your program. Cali and area seems to have started to latch onto hockey as well.

It's a shame Saint Louis University won't bring back hockey. They had some really good teams back in the days.

They were one of first in their conference to get canadien players to come over and play college instead of staying in juniors.

they had a 301-180-110 record 60ish win %.

Won the CCHA 6 times out of 9, i believe.

SLU does not have to abide by Title IX does it? Where would they play? I thought the new arena was basketball only. Rent is expensive for the Kiel, and St Charles or wherever is too far.
