1960s:

I struggled to find a feature film for the decade - it is EMBARRASSING (or should be) for Hollywood to be outclassed so much by television - I would say only situation comedies (forever) and drama since the late 90s have seen as much dominance as the 60s Christmas programs over 60s Christmas films:

Rudolph

Grinch

Charlie Brown

Little Drummer Boy

Frosty

versus feature films from Italy and East Germany.

No A Christmas Story

For shame. That's the greatest Christmas movie of all time.

So that's your choice for the 1980s?

That's the point of the thread, brah - submit your candidates.

Don't look too hard for a 1960s - other than TV, there aren't any.

Christmas Story is a polarizing one. Gen-x loves it even though we're far removed from the story's time period. Older folks, who you think would relate more, don't seem to like it.

And we can thank Turner Networks for making it such a "classic."

1970s: Literally cannot think of one
1980s: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (Also my favorite Christmas movie of all-time)
1990s: Home Alone (HA2 is also great, and Santa Clause is worth a mention as well)
2000s: Elf, for sure. But I quite enjoy Four Christmases also bc I'm a big VV guy.

1970s: The Year Without a Santa Clause
1990s: The Santa Clause
2000s: Elf
2010s: Rise of the Guardians

Rise of the Guardians revolves around Jack Frost and has Santa Claus in it, so it counts

80's: Christmas Vacation & A Christmas Story
90's: Home Alone 1 and 2 & The Santa Clause
00's: Elf & Deck the Halls
10's: nada

Die Hard is not a christmas movie
The midget in Bad Santa is the most irritating unwatchable actor I can think of.

Christmas movies should be kids movies, imo.
